Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lodge Logic L14SK3 Pre-Seasoned 15 Inch Cast-Iron Skillet

Customer Review: Great, as expected!
Summary: 5 Stars

This skillet is an awesome size- bacon strips actually fit in it without being bent. It's very heavy and heats evenly, even on my crappy old glass top stove. I'm trying to figure out why Lodge's products get 1 or 2 star reviews, and then I read some of them: these people have no idea how to cook with cast iron! Yes, it won't go in the dishwasher, and yes, you have to oil it to create the seasoning. Maybe do a little more research before you assume that preseasoned (read: temporary rust prevention) means nonstick like Teflon! Good cast iron gets better with proper use.

Customer Review: Fantastic Skillet, but....
Summary: 5 Stars

note that this skillet is not made for the average sized stove--it's simply too big to get even heat distribution. It's perfect for use in the oven or the grill. Clean-up is easy with a stiff brush and hot water, just add a light layer of oil afterwards to keep rust away.
Also, this skillet is quite heavy, so be careful--especially when it's superhot and full of food. Fortunately there's a grip on the opposite side of the handle for more stability.
Overall it's a great skillet and if taken care of correctly, it'll last a lifetime.

Customer Review: Big disappointment
Summary: 1 Stars

As heavy as is pan is the bottom is too thin to evenly spread the heat to the edges unless you own a commercial kitchen stove like wolf or viking, I bought this pan to fry bacon with the pieces of raw bacon would cook in the middle but all the pieces 3 inches from the edge would not even begin to cook forcing me to move the pieces around which is more trouble than it's worth. Something I didn't even think about was where to put the pan when not in use it is so large it took up one fourth of the entire space where I place all of my pots and pans.

Customer Review: Great Skillet
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband is the chef in the home and has been wanting a large case-iron skillet for sometime. I found this one on Amazon for a very reasonable price and got it as a Christmas present. He has been using it ever since. He loves the even heating, the convenience of moving from stove-top to oven, and the way the food looks coming from the skillet--presentation is next to taste for him. I love the easy clean-up since I'm the dishwasher. It's a great skillet. I ready to buy more in different sizes, and my son-in-law wants one, too.

Customer Review: Still the best for value and cooking
Summary: 5 Stars

Yes, it needs a little more care, but when it comes to even heat and browning of meats this pan gets the job done. I used to use a pan like this as a girl...it belonged to my grandmother. Now my sister uses it and it is as good as ever. If taken care of, this is one American made item that will outlast several lifetimes and never need replacing. When you compare Lodge products to other cookware, this is a very good value and it does a great job cooking evenly. It will easily cook 4 chicken breasts at once with even browning.
