We use the "lid" every day for cooking something...eggs, bacon, sausage, veggies, etc. It is a great all-purpose pan. The "bottom" pan we use less frequently but, it was still worth the money for the times that we use it to make spaghetti sauce or a dish that has sauce in it. I would buy this set many times over but, since it's cast iron, it should last us for a long, long time. I also have the enameled cast iron and have found that the regular cast iron cookware is more durable and has better non-stick features. I would buy the regular cast iron over the enameled cast iron if I needed to make future purchases.Customer Review: Beautiful Cast Iron

A beautifully seasoned cast iron pot and pan/lid ready to use immediately without having to season first. A great gift item, which comes in a box! This may seem an odd comment, but any single-item pots or pans I bought recently were not in a box. I do hand-wash cast iron, just make sure to dry thoroughly and occasionally rub a small amount of oil before storing. This difficult-to-find 3 quart capacity is just the right size when cooking for two. Have made several soups in this pot, so don't worry about liquids somehow rusting it! I have also used it as a dutch oven to bake no-kneed bread. A great purchase!Customer Review: Baker's delight

I found the Lodge LCC3 combo cooker to be everything it was advertised to be. I am sure there are many uses for this cooker but I purchased it to make artisan bread and boy, does it work. I heat the oven up to 500 degrees with the cooker inside and then put my prepared dough in the low pan, put the tall pan on top and put back in the oven. In 30 minutes I have a perfect loaf of dark, hard crusted, sourdough bread. The nice feature about the cooker is that it holds in the moisture released by the dough as steam and forms the perfect crust on the bread. I LOVE this combo. These pans last forever with proper care. They get really hot.There are certain things you cannot cook properly without cast iron. I have had so much fun learning new recipes. I will be buying more of this brand that's made in the USA. Yes, they are heavy. To me, that's great because I don't have to grab the handle to stir or saute. It's so heavy it stays in place. I can't rave about these enough. I see people complaining about imperfect seasoning. Whatever. I only had a very small ironware fry pan and asked for a high-walled large ironware fry pan for my birthday. I received this and it's been great! I love that I basically got 2 ironware pans for the price of one. The lid for the lower pan is a large fry pan all in itself. The high walls of the main skillet make it so easy to cook stuff and either not splatter grease or be able to toss vegetables or other food in it without spilling them out the sides, it's just great. Love it! If you're just starting out with ironware, this would be the pan to start out with!
