Customer Review: Why buy Le Crueset?

I don't have the café color, I bought it in green--fabulous green. But I was tempted to buy the café too! I have one 6 quart Le Crueset dutch oven, and I started looking for a 3-quart casserole dutch oven by them. The prices knocked me out, and then I found, through some miracle, the Lodge version of it. I bought it and love it. It is heavy, but you probably already know that. It is super sharp looking, rivaling Le Crueset--if you care about looks :-) It is great for cooking anything and everything--maybe not cookies. Make sure you don't clean it with an abrasive; I made that mistake with my Le Crueset dutch oven, and it scratched the bottom badly. Use a sponge and a mild abrasive, such as Bon Ami. You won't regret this purchase!
Description of Lodge Enamel on Cast Iron 3 Quart Covered Casserole, Cafe Brown
This 3 Qt enamel covered casserole is great for cooking, marinating, refrigeration and freezing. The color porcelain enamel on cast iron can be used on gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. Not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames. Not for use in microwaves. Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating bottom sidewalls and even the lid. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture. The excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Two layers of very hard, glossy porcelain enamel are chip resistant and easy to clean. Lid knob is oven safe to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance. 11 3/4" diameter, 2 1/8" deep. Cafe'Casseroles
