Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lodge Deep Fry ThermometerCustomer Review: Junk -- unusable Summary: 1 Stars
We've been deep frying a bit lately. Our older glass/mercury thermometer was too hard to read as the oil boiled. This worked very well and seemed accurate. However, the clip doesn't hold onto thin-walled pots very well and it is not accurate if it slips to an angle. Best to keep it straight up. Even if it was accurate, I can no longer read the dial on the thermometer. It is full of condensation. Don't waste you money on this. I have other Lodge products that I've been happy with, but this is an awful product.
Customer Review: 5" Long Summary: 2 Stars
What this listing does not tell you is that the thermometer is 5" long, not adequate for many deep fry applications. The product packaging clearly states the size, although that's little help until it arrives. Mine's going to get sent back.
Customer Review: Deep fry thermometer Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent. Now I know temperature of hot oil of my Gran Pappy deep fryer. Thermometer stem comes with clip that clips onto deep fryer rim.
The secret of deep frying is fresh oil and correct cooking temperature.
Customer Review: Rotten Thermometer Summary: 1 Stars
Only used it twice and it will not even go up to 250 degrees with the oil smoking! What a piece of junk.
