I purchased this Dutch oven about 4 years ago. We use it several times a month for roasts, soups, stews, etc. (perfect for cochinita pibil). Heats quickly and evenly and is easy to clean--even when you neglect to stir the contents and they burn on the bottom. Just a boil a little water in the bottom and the stuff lifts off. The only minus we have is that the inside is stained--but that's from the cochinita pibil, which braises in a red achiote sauce. This is at least as good as the other brands at a fraction of the cost. For me, it's a no-brainer!Customer Review: Really satisfied

After seeing so many dishes being cooked in dutch ovens on the TV food shows I decided I had to have one. I shopped around on line as well as Crate & Barrel, Home Goods etc and decided on the Lodge at Amazon because of the Lodge reputation, the Amazon price as well as free shipping. Cooked my first meal this last weekend, Beef Braised in Red Wine, and it turned out terrific. The dutch oven cooked well and cleaned up great. They are heavy and when you put them in the oven you have to be careful and make certain you have a good grip on the handles.Customer Review: Fantastic quality and value

I received this item for Christmas, and it has quickly become a favorite kitchen tool being used about a dozen or so times already. Spaghetti sauce, chili, soup, curried chicken, just to name a few. Clean up is a snap. My wife left it out for two days with dried spaghetti sauce in it. Some hot water, soap, and a scrub brush clean it up in no time.
When you consider that the Lodge brand runs about 1/3 of a Le Creuset, the food tastes even better! Once you use it, you will look for dutch oven recipes just to use it.

I bought this for my husband and he hasn't used it yet...I think he's waiting for the fall. The oven is really heavy and substantial. The color is a traditional rustic reddish hue. I thought that I may need to buy a different knob so that it doesn't melt in the oven, but the packaging said that it's safe to 400 degrees; otherwise install a metal one, or remove the high-temp plastic one. We'll never use it at a higher temperature, so I'm relieved. I'm glad I bought this for him. I can't wait for the many home style meals we'll enjoy!Customer Review: Chipped enamel

I purchased this Lodge Dutch Oven at Target today for $59.99-good price, BUT the enamel chipped while I was washing it in warm soapy water before putting it away. Mind you, I did not ever get to cook in it! I had read a few bad reviews that referred to chipped enamel, but since I'm very careful with my cookware and not too hard to please I thought I'd be fine. Needless to say, I am very disappointed. Maybe this is just an occasional problem, but I'll be returning my dutch oven for a refund. I won't be getting a replacement.
