Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lodge Color 6-Quart Dutch Oven, Café Brown

Customer Review: Good soup pot
Summary: 4 Stars

I made a big pot of bean and ham soup and it stained the edge of the pot a bit. Spaghetti sauce didn't stain it though. I'm still learning that it takes only a little heat to cook with. This pot is different from the old cast iron one I used to just set in the fire and let go. I wish the lid handle was a little more sturdy but it's supposed to take the heat. I'm still learning how to cook with this but I do love it so far. Every Sunday I put it on the stove and then figure out what I'm going to put in it for that day. Good price too. One thing though....I bought Lodge brand thinking it was made in the USA...wrong!

Customer Review: MY PARENTS LOVE THIS DUTCH OVEN...
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this "Dutch Oven" for my elderly parents to make soups and pot roasts in during cold winters. My mom told me she could NEVER afford one on her social security so I bought her this one!

THEY BOTH LOVE IT!! She says it keeps the heat real well and it roasts to PERFECTION!! She cannot wait to make her favorite soups in it!!

Also, they both say it cleans up real well, which, when you are elderly, you are grateful for not having to put extra work into cleaning a pot.

They like the color and they love the oven!

I RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY FOR ANYONE!

Customer Review: Perfect soup and stew vehicle
Summary: 5 Stars

Very good looking, high performance vessel; nice enough to stay out of the cupboard, which, given its weight, is just as well. If you want to transfer from the stove-top to the oven to the table, this is what you are looking for; and the price is right, too. As others have mentioned, Lodge had its products independently tested for the dreaded Chinese lead enamel and it came back clean. The only caveat I can think of is there are no 'drip bumps' inside the lid, so this may not be the perfect oven if you need even distribution of cooled steam (as in baked beans).
Wholehearted recommendation.

Customer Review: Why didn't I buy sooner?
Summary: 4 Stars

I love this Dutch Oven and wonder why I haven't bought one sooner. So far I've made a fabulous speghetti sauce. Easy clean up. Just beware the enamal chips easily. I don't know if I had bought a higher end product whether I would have had this problem. The chip is small and happend when I was washing it, I was a bit careless while rinsing it seems. The chip is probably about 5mm and to this point hasn't caused a problem. If I find I use this pot alot I may upgrade to higher end Dutch Oven. I also bought the Le Creuset knob so I could put the whole thing in the oven.

Customer Review: Best Pot I got!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used this Lodge enameled oven many times and for many recipes since getting it. I could not be happier. AS a long time user of cast iron for cooking, this is my first enameled version, but not my last. Fantastic slow cooking on stove top and does a great job covered and in the oven. Most likely I will replace the knob on the cover as it is not heat resistant over 350F. Will be easy to do.I have not yet used to to deep fry, but I expect it will be great for that also.
This will be on my shopping list for a couple of folks next X-Mas!
