I grew up with cast iron cookware in the house. My mother owned several pieces but it has only been in the recent months that I have developed a real appreciation for it. Regretfully, all of hers is gone including some classic Griswold pieces. If you know nothing of cast iron this is a good place to start. It's not comprehensive (Dummies books rarely are). If you are new or old to cooking with cast iron you should have this book. It tells you how to take care of your cast iron as well as how to buy it, and then how to cook with it. I love it.Customer Review: Great cookbook for cast iron recipes
