When I got the Kindle2 Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6" Display, U.S. Wireless) for my birthday, I absolutely fell in love with it... except it wasn't back-lit, which makes it awesome on the eyes, but also makes it impossible to read in bed without having a bedside lamp on. When I researched book lights, I came across the Lightwedge Original Lightwedge Original Book Light (Ocean) and purchased it. Upon recieveing it, I tried it against my Kindle and it was way too big. Going back to amazon, I then looked for a smaller size. I found the Lightwedge Paperback Lightwedge Paperback - Black and it's just the right size to cover the Kindle's screen, but not the buttons on the side if it's held right.
I will admit, it's missing the 5th star because of the slight streakiness of the LED light source, but I understand that is how they work. It's still much better than trying to read in the total dark, and it doesn't annoy my husband when I read in bed, like some other lights have. I just turn it on and face the 'open glass' side towards the crease of my Kindle's leather cover Amazon Kindle Leather Cover (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle) and the light doesn't bleed into the room.

The key to this product is SIZE. Unless you're willing to invest in both the small & large book lights, I would suggest you choose the right-sized light for your reading life style. If you frequently read hard-back books, you will want to get this larger sized book light.
I have tried to use the large book light on my paperback novels, but after a half-hour of reading, the muscles in my right thumb and palm would cramp because I had to balanced both the book and the light.
In regards to the smaller light - I had just as much trouble reading a hard-cover novel. It was extra work just to get through a page (I felt like the scanner on a copier machine - only able to see sections of the page at a time). It wasn't relaxing at all.
Once you have sized the light correctly, this really is a good buy. I have enjoyed my book lights immensely. It's not a perfect product (the glass scratches quite easily), but truly, I would be lost without them. I travel often, and read a lot at night. And in my experience, the book light is not distracting to those around me who are trying to sleep.
Not to mention, it doubles as a great book mark! For those of you like me who can't help but lose our bookmarks - you'll understand the benefit of this.

I bought this with joyful anticipation. I got home, placed new batteries in the wedge, lowered the lights, and settled in bed expecting a nice evening reading. The first thing I noticed was that my light wasn't even. The lighting across my page was "wavy"; light and darker bands emanating from each bulb, much like the ripple from dropping a pebble in a pond. They weren't moving, but the alteration in light really made reading difficult. I don't know if this is a "bad" wedge, but other factors are going to keep me from replacing it with another one. The main factor is comfort. If you like to read laying down, you will find it difficult to hold the wedge in place over the page. You will also find it cumbersome to always position it over EVERY page. With a typical book light, you simply attach the light to the front or back of the book and never have to really deal with the light again. With this light, you have to make it part of your reading experience. Sure, it looks cool, but who am I trying to impress? I can't wait for the day they develop a flat, handheld monitor that is appealing and as easy on the eyes as paper. Then my continual search for a quality book light will end.Customer Review: A great book light

I have been using the original Lightwedge for awhile (for Hardcovers) and when the new paperback version came out I was sure to buy it. It is just like the original Lighwedge, just smaller. It has two LEDs as well which I was afraid it would only be one. It definitely lights up the entire page very well. I used to use the Itty Bitty Book Light but didn't like using it for hardcovers because I felt it did not light the entire page well. For paperbacks it worked well but I like the Lightwedge much more for both paper and hardbacks. Although you should be careful because it is easy to scratch the plastic. I do not find it noticeable when you are reading against the page. If you hold it in the air you can see the scratches but when it is on the page you don't. I don't find it annoying to have to turn the page with as some people may have complained. It also looks real cool using it. If you want to try something new and are looking for a good book light this is definitely one to try.Customer Review: Any bad reviewers are insane...

Unless you received a defective unit, there is NO way anyone could give this any rating short of 5 stars. Ive owned dozens of booklights by several manufacturers and NOTHING compares to this product. Ive had mine for over 2 years and its still going perfectly.
It's also sick that even though I read with it an average of an hour a night, Ive only had to replace the batteries 3 times. My spouse sleeps peacefully while I use this booklight, was not the case with other booklights that shine on page.
Don't be deterred by reviewers that say it isn't bright enough. If this light isn't bright enough for your eyes, then you have no business reading in the dark.
The only downside I can come up with is that the clear area is somewhat easy to scratch. My unit has many hairline scratches that you can see during the day, but are practically invisible when at use at night.
Buy it, you won't be dissappointed.
