I have had this for over 2 years with very few problems. Yes the surface has scratched (the reason for 4 out of 5 stars). However, it has been dropped by my young children and cleaning person more than a few times and is still working well - hardly a "disposable" item as described by an earlier reviewer. I am now ordering ones for my two eldest children to facilitate their reading without disturbing each other (and to stop them from borrowing mine!) I carried this in a book case and it got scratched up. It would be nice if it came with a case. It is the best book light I have used except for the scratching problem. Although you are supposed to be able to use it as a bookmark, I usually read more than one book at a time, so I don't use it that way. I would like a case so it wouldn't get scratched up so when I carry it with me all of the time, I can use it with whatever book I want to read. I carry more than one book at a time also.Customer Review: Great product -- but this one had a defect!

Hi, bought the LightWedge as a holiday gift because i love mine. But the one
I purchased here, though it came hermetically sealed in its package, had a
flaw -- the toggle button which allows for dimming the light did not work.
It moved, but it didn't dim. Felt bad, because it was a gift. Otherwise,
i think it's a really great item that provides light only for the page, and
doesn't light up the room or blind your eyes in the darkness.

I was very disappointed in this product. There is only one functioning light setting (not two), the light is dim, and I notice waves across the page. The light is usable, but I was expecting something great. If I had bought it in a store, I would have returned it. Looking at the mixed reviews for the LightWedge, and based on my own experience, I would recommend that you buy the LightWedge where you feel comfortable returning it if it doesn't meet your expectations.Customer Review: very good

It works well, probably better than the other solutions available, but there are some disadvantages: there are 2 LEDs that illuminate the page, and illumination is not perfectly uniform. How could it be? In addition, a faint diffraction pattern resulting in concentric circles or arcs radiating out from the LEDs is visible on the page. Finally, because the "lens" is made of plastic, it accumulates static electricity and hence dust; pages actually stick to my lightwedge.
