Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of LightWedge Original LED Book LightCustomer Review: Must Have For the Late Night Reader! Summary: 5 Stars
I love to read in the quiet of night when the kids are in bed, but having a light on is a distraction to my husband and alerts the kids that I'm awake giving them the impression that they can come in and "chat" a few minutes longer (anything to avoid bedtime!). This is a great product for late night readers such as myself. I can read in bed and my husband doesn't even know it. It takes a little time getting used to because you have to pick it up and turn it with every page but it's well worth the small inconvenience. The lighting is so much better than other, more "traditional" book lights: it illuminates the entire page and there is no light glare. It's simply perfect!
Be sure to get the storage case and cleaner or dust and small surface scratches will quickly become a nuisance, though I use my eyeglass cleaner and cloth with the same good results. I LOVE this product!
Customer Review: It got me reading again Summary: 5 Stars
After a couple of years keeping my wife awake while i read in bed at night, I stopped. Either the nightstand light was too bright, or the clip-on light shone directly in her eyes while she was trying to go to sleep.
With my busy schedule, I literally never found another time to read. When I got my LightWedge (original size), all of that changed. Now I am able to read everything from magazines to hardcover (and paperback) books to (unfortunately) work documents without waking her or keeping her from falling asleep.
I've read a few of the other reviews, and as long as you keep the lens in a book (it keeps your place like a bookmark) or in the available soft case, scratches will be minimal at most. (Just follow the care instructions in the package. They're easy to find!)
Thank you to the people at LightWedge for rekindling my love of reading
Customer Review: Poor Quality Summary: 2 Stars
I ordered the lightwedge not once but twice and each time due to the packaging not being stable enough, the wedge was scratched. I returned the item and even though I received the replacement, it too was scratched and was returned for credit. I did not request another lightwedge but rather requested a refund. I notified the company and they supposedly credited my account. HOWEVER I have spent months trying to receive the money back since they credited the wrong account (which I had closed due to my relocating out of the country). Even though the owner of the company promised to personally handle my refund after several failed attempts, I have still not recovered my money and it's been since July 2007. Today is November 29, 2007. Maybe you have more money to throw around than I do if your Lightwedge has any problems :) Good Luck!
Customer Review: LightWedge Book Light Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this version of the LightWedge Book Light and the smaller one for paperback books. Both lights perform very well, but both of them have small blemishes in the glass which interfer slightly when reading. A modest annoyance, but still an annoyance, especially considering that these lights cost $25 each. The smaller one is brighter than the large one and is adequate for reading both paperback books and larger, hard-cover books. I would buy the lights again, but probably only the smaller size, and I wish LightWedge would do a better quality control job on their product. I asked Amazon to replace both units which they did quickly and easily; however, both replacement units still had small blemishes. I decided to keep them anyway because except for that, the lights do a good job when I'm reading in bed
Customer Review: Shadows very distracting and resolution unsatisactory Summary: 1 Stars
I bought both the original and the paperback version as gifts for my wife. She was very dissatisfied with both as the light they provide is marred by vertical shadows across the page which she found distracting. Evidently not everyone is bothered by these shadows, based on the positive reviews and the fact that in calling the manufacturer with the problem, I was told that that is how they worked and my only recourse was returning them to the place I bought them.
Since the packages had been opened, Amazon charged a steep re-stocking fee plus shipping and handling charges. I ended up paying about 40% of the price of the items for the total unstatisfactory experience.
I strongly recommend that you buy this item where you can try it first.
