Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of LightWedge Original LED Book Light, BlackCustomer Review: Well designed book light Summary: 4 Stars
This book light works just as designed. It's got a nice bright light and fully illuminates the page of a hardback or larger paperback book. It's lightweight and easy to use. I haven't had any problems with the plastic scratching but I was forewarned by other reviewers and have been careful with the booklight when I'm not using it. I think it's fine to use it as a bookmark to keep the plastic from getting scratched.
The light shines from top to bottom as well as across the page so you'll still be shedding some light in the bedroom if that's where you're reading and you're trying not to waken your significant other.
I also had a minor issue with static electricity making the pages of a book stick to the clear plastic when I moved it to turn the page. It may have been just that one book because it's not an issue with the paperback I'm reading now.
Customer Review: Great but scratched Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this product for my husband for Christmas. I thought it would be his solution to reading late at night while on shift or at home in bed. Well, the glass panel looked great until we placed it on the page of the book and noticed several tiny scratches and nicks on the glass panel. It arrived to us in its full package and I couldn't understand why this was so; unless it was damaged prior to packaging or we were sent a USED product. I was quite disappointed. As we had already opened the package and I had tossed the shipping bill from Amazon, I felt I couldn't return it.
As for the light itself? Great. It is more of a glow that doesn't interrupt sleep at all. I recommend this product to anyone who is a bed-time reader but URGE you to buy from a store rather than online to ensure no scratches or nicks on the glass panel.
Customer Review: lite on the light Summary: 2 Stars
I hate to be a naysayer. And maybe it was my expectations because I don't think I have seen a bad review anywhere's. But the amount of light this "toy" projects will have you squinting in a short while. Its a beautiful idea and design- poorly executed. I noticed it only uses two lights that are in essence pointed sideways from the page. The light that reachs the page is uneven and dim to say the least. I tried turning out all the lights but this is marginal at best. I never tried any other nightlights so maybe its the best - but I'd say flick on table lamp - go in another room- or plan on turning in early. And scratching has got to be an issue- I could actually see it scratch as I used a microfiber to try and clean the plastic. Sorry but made in Mexico - what did I expect.
Customer Review: disappointed in the lightwedge Summary: 3 Stars
After wanting one for quite some time, I finally purchased a Lightwedge Original today. Put new batteries in it, put it over a book, turned it on, and found myself thinking, "Is that it?" The light was much weaker than I expected. It was okay in a completely dark room. But if you just want to be able to add light to your book in a room with other lights on without sitting directly under a table lamp it wouldn't help much. For the amount of money I paid for it, it ought to work better. I will be returning it to the store I purchased it from tomorrow. If you are looking to buy a booklight to be used in a room where your spouse/roomate is sleeping nearby, then this product would probably serve your needs. I guess I'm just not the target user.
Customer Review: Good Read Summary: 4 Stars
Users of the LightWedge booklight will either love it or hate it. I say that because it does provide a well focused light to the page that you are trying to read, and is not as bad as other reading lights when it comes to light broadcast throughout the room that may disturb others. On the other hand you will constantly have to manipulate the wedge to the page that you are trying to read. I not a very fast reader, so I works fine for me, but I can see someone easily getting annoyed by the constant re-placement after turning the page. On a side note: I read a great deal of printed technical briefs, and have enjoyed being able to place the wedge behind the pages since they are mostly single sided printings.
