I live in muggy, humid Florida and I'm delighted to report this style of salt shaker really does keep the salt from turning to concrete. Mine are still working after 30 years. I buy them now as gifts to my "snowbird" friends. And even with shipping, how could you beat this price? They have been around for many years but are getting harder to find as more people choose "decor" over usefulness. Personally, I like the sleek look of them, too.
