Customer Review: OK but not great.
Summary: 3 Stars
When I first saw the Lekeu Silicone Makisu, I was very interested. I loved the idea of it being more hygienic than a standard makisu.
However, when it arrived, I realized how familiar it looked. I have a roll of shelf liner that I purchased at a local Target for $4 that is identical to the Lekue Silicone Makisu.
I tried it out on kimbap as well as a standard maki roll. As another reviewer notes, the silicone makisu is not as sturdy as a standard makisu. I have experience with rolling maki, and I'd give the Lekue Silicone Makisu a "meh". It's ok, but not great.
I also decided to try a little experiment; I purchased a new roll of the shelf liner from Target and tried it out for maki. I did have to cut down the roll to a more manageable size, but it worked just as well as the Lekue, for a fraction of the price.
