For what appears to be an attractive and heavy duty cherry pitter this has really turned out to be a worthless piece of...shiny metal.
Imagine staring at 9lbs of cherries with this pitter in hand. At first you are pleased with the instrument since this pitter actually does do a good job and makes fast work of the cherries. Just as soon as you get into a rhythm suddenly it all goes horribly wrong. The spike that pushes the cherry pit out is no longer attached to the pitter, but is instead nestled securely in the cherry sitting in the bottom of your pit bowl.
After two of these (returned the first to the store) and after going through various glues and other methods I have given up on firmly securely the spike where it can do the most good. Honestly, it turns out that after the last aborted pitting effort (and third brand/type of glue) I forgot to take the escapee spike out of the bowl and ended up tossing it out with the pits. That's obviously where it wanted to be anyway and good riddance to it.
It's a gorgeous instrument that works terrifically...until it falls apart.
It falls apart a lot.
Save your money and patience and pass on this one.
