Customer Review: Research is key.

I understand writing a poor review for this tagine arriving broken, but I do not understand writing a poor review because you do not understand simple thermodynamics and tried to heat ceramic directly on your stove. I suggest if you are buying one of these you spend a few HOURS learning how to use it or at least take the time to contemplate why ceramic cracks when you force extreme temperatures onto it. Buy a diffuser - your results will be best on the stovetop. This is NOT a frying pan. It is NOT a wok. It is a slow cooker made of clay and you cannot (a) heat it at a high temperature or (b) pour cold liquid into it when it is hot. Or it will crack. DUH.
This is a great tagine. One of the best you can buy, affordable and authentic. Don't slack off and buy a cast iron or stainless steel one (not yet. Learn the traditional way first!). The clays used to make tagines absorb flavor from the meals you cook in them and your food will taste better over time as you continue to cook. Some other things people leave out: buy some ras el hanout, as that is the best and easiest spice blend to use when cooking in a tagine. Take your time and enjoy the food that comes out of this. Experiment with it. This is a wonderful cooking tool in a world where food is demanded fast and convenient. Buy some spice blends and look up some recipes. Do not forget to SEASON YOUR TAGINE before you use it!!
Description of Le Souk Ceramique CT-BUR-12 12-Inch Cookable Tagine, Burgundy
Our cookable tagines are made to go on the stovetop at low temperature for slow cooking sumptuous tagine recipes. The special refractory clay mix allows for even heat distribution throughout the tagine base. The conical lid recirculates vapor to condense and drop back down into the dish, keeping meats moist and succulent. There are literally thousands of recipes online for tagine dishes and we include a few of our favorites with each shipment, along with instructions for seasoning and care. Each tagine is hand-thrown at our studio in Nabeul, Tunisia and painted free-hand, using only foodsafe paints and glazes (we conform to FDA and California Prop 65 requirements). The tagine is about 12-inch in diameter and is intended to serve 3 to 4 people (a whole chicken can fit, for example). We do recommend using a diffuser though this is not required. The tagine can be used (at low temperature only) on gas or electric stoves and the tagine base can go in the oven to 450-degree (many recipes call for browning the dish at the end of preparation).
