Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 7-1/4-Quart Round French Oven, Cherry RedCustomer Review: Le Creuset 7 1/4 Quart Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this as a gift for my wife to replace her old Le Creuset 7 1/4 quart pot. Normally, I wouldn't have bought this kind of thing as one of her Christmas gifts, but she REALLY wanted this. Obviously, only about two weeks have passed since Christmas and she has used this pot twice. What she likes best is that the bottom of this pot has an enamel surface - unlike her old one that had a bare cast iron bottom that left rings in the sink from oxidation. I like the quality of Le Creuset products. My wife has several of their pots & pans and I use them too. The price is pretty high, but the quality is worth it in the long run. This pot will outlast me.
Customer Review: Expensive and hard to clean Summary: 2 Stars
I have the 7-1/4 Quart and have been using it for months. I cook a lot, I mean everyday so it gets a work-out. I find that food sticks and burns to the bottom (maybe I have a bad cooktop, I don't always use high heat, if that's what you are thinking.) Also, it is hard to clean, I have burned spots on the bottom (yes, I use non abrasive cleaners....) I really wanted this brand because of all the hype but I find it really is not worth the very and I mean very high price. (did I mention it is HEAVY to lift??)
On the positive side it is very beautiful on my cooktop, which is where I leave it for all to see. (it won't fit in any cabinet)
Customer Review: A pot for a lifetime Summary: 5 Stars
The first one I purchased was on my daughter-in law's wish list for her birthday. She is a beautiful, young and phenomenal cook. Always believing that the cooking process is an ongoing learning and exploring procedure, I put a pot on my birthday list the following year. There are some things that just must be made in it...for instance...chili, meat or marinara sauce, pulled pork, soups. While the first purchase was the color Dune, mine was a beautiful red. I don't even have any red in my kitchen but this pot called out for red for me. All the colors are lovely.
Customer Review: You Get What You Pay For!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Wow!!! We are new to the world of Dutch Oven (French Oven as per LeCreuset)cooking and after doing much research and speaking to people who have used this brand I decided to splurge on this model for my wife. It was worth every penny! Not only does this pot look beautiful on your stovetop or dinnertable, the food cooks evenly and cleanup is a breeze. It is heavy cast iron covered in ceramic so there is no worrying about caring for the tempermental cast iron. I reccomend the 7 1/4 quart if you plan on braising large cuts of meat. Extremely happy with the purchase.
Customer Review: Must have piece of cooking equipment Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely LOVE this cookware. Don't be put off by the seemingly high price. You will hand this stuff down to your kids. What's so special about it? It out performs all of my other cookware (yes, even All-Clad) on the stovetop and in the oven. The even heating is better than I could have imagined. It will even perform despite the crappiest cooktops. And, as an added bonus, it's the easiest to clean. I use mine for most everything . . . pot roast, soup, stew, pasta sauces, braising, slow-cooking, etc. It's great!
