I'm not a le creuset fanatic, but the majority of my cookware is theirs because apparently they're the only ones who can do cast iron enameled competently. Sad but true. My oft-most used piece is the 2 in 1 pan aka marmitout that has sadly been discontinued.
This saucepan I got for smaller jobs. I'm a single cook so it works great for grain and beans that I can't do in my marmitout or cast iron since it has a hole as an escape vent for the steam in the lid that my marmitout doesn't. It holds heat well as cast iron does, takes some special treatment, etc. I don't really like the use of plastic in my kitchen and now wish I'd kind of just gotten a really small dutch oven to avoid the plastic handle which cannot handle oven temps above 375 which is ridiculous. Of course, for an extra few dollars you can buy a stainless steel knob. the handle will still not be safe. while making it easily maneuverable and staying cool, the handle is still just too intruding and bulky and I'd rather have a pot without plastic that I just have to grab an oven mitt or towel to handle.
Precision pour my tuchus. It pours okay for the first half of a full pot, but the second half dribbles down the side and then inevitably cascades onto your unprotected table cloth because you thought you had precision pour.
All le creuset sucks to get really clean. Enamel, while hygienic has a great propensity for that elusive, desirable "fonde" and that same quality makes stains sticks and soaking doesn't help. You can either be okay with the grimy quality that comes with age and occasionally use vinegar to clean it out or you can buy LC's special chemical cleaner, but you'll want to do it sparingly as it wears down the product. Either way, just remember vitreous enamel is glass mostly and you don't want to use scouring pads or harsh abrasives. Some extra handling tips that are totally worth it. As long as it works, right?
Overall though, an okay pot that gets the job done, if at an insultingly high price, which is why I recommend going to an outlet or a home goods or getting one used that sells "second choice" from the factory. It's about 1/3 off and they're generally just cosmetic defects.

As cast iron is unexcelled for heat distribution and retention and the crack- and chip-resistant enamel is impervious to acids and odors, the pan cooks food evenly and gently without hot spots and can be used for marinating.
