Customer Review: Nice product but...not for me
Summary: 4 Stars
As far as the product goes it is excellent. However, for me room temp butter still proves not so easy to spread on soft bread. Also, there were a couple of times when I went for butter and I found it laying in the water. I realize that is user error, but I thought I had it packed into the bell pretty tightly. Still, I wouldn't discourage people from giving this product a try. The majority of people seem to like it very much, and the butter bell concept in general. My preferred method of buttering bread remains, microwave butter for 20 seconds (or melt in a small pan for purists) and use a barbque/kitchen brush to spread the butter. That gives you an even spread and allows you to control the amount of saturation. Heavily saturated works pretty well usually!

The original Butter Bell crock keeps butter soft, delicious and spreadable for up to 30 days without refrigeration. Through the study of traditional and historical butter storage methods and hours of product development, L. Tremain, Inc. has created a line of butter crocks that are a tribute to the original French butter crock or "beurrier" (pronounced bur-e-ay). Made from durable dolomite clays, this classic Butter Bell crock will safely keep butter fresh and spreadable without refrigeration, odors or spoilage. The Butter Bell's unique design enhances butter's delicate flavor, while providing a practical and decorative solution for storing and serving butter. It keeps butter at the perfect "spreading" consistency by reflecting outside heat while insulating and cooling the butter. Flavor and freshness is protected by an airtight seal of water at the base of the crock. Water should be changed out every three days and replaced with fresh, cold water. Store the crock away from heat or sunlight. To use, firmly pack softened butter into the bell-shaped lid, pour cold water into the base of the crock and place the lid upside down back into the base of the crock. This classic white Butter Bell features the word "butter" in blue and is a beautiful addition to any kitchen or tabletop. Dishwasher safe.Tableware
