This barrier has stopped my dog from coming into my front passenger seat and from trying to get into it whenever we are starting a to drive and from whenever I make a stop. I purchased mine a couple of months ago. It is very well made and should last for years. It is fast and easy to install and remove as needed, and the price is unbelievably good. it is well worth the price and shipping charge. I use mine in conjunction with a pet hammock for the back seat, and the entire area is well protected. It works for both large and smaller dogs, although if a dog is a smaller size and able to jump high, it might not work as well. I have had both in my car due to dog rescue fostering activities with English Springer Rescue America (ESRA) and, and cross-transporting other rescue breeds. My dog now is much smaller.
Please understand that this barrier allows the dog to roam freely in the back seat. It will probably keep them from flinging forward if one is unlucky enough to be in an accident with a dog aboard. Many of my friends give their dog more protection by using dog harnesses that attach to the seatbelt. It keeps them from being flung forward at all. I choose to let my dog roam the back seat. It is a personal decision.
I wish that I had found out about the barrier years ago. It would have saved my center console from dog nail marks.
The only con that I have found is that in my 2007 Honda Accord sedan, I am not able to get the lower straps to fit back in the small gap between the seat back and the seat. This may be because I haven't tried hard enough.
