Customer Review: Perfect Picnic/Travel knife

This little knife is sharp, attractive and comes with its own matching blade cover.
Pros:
1) It is convenient for picnics because of the blade protector.
2) It comes in mulitple colors. You can color code the knives to help prevent accidental food poisoning in Summer picnics.
3) It is very sharp
Cons:
1) Blade is sharp enough to cut tiny slits into the blade cover/protector & "are there tiny chards of plastic floating around?"
2) A plastic lever mechanism that "snaps" the blade securely in the protector actually pushes the blade's sharp edge creating problem #1 above. Replacing blade cover needs etra attention.
3) The Handle is a smooth plastic. Maybe something with a better grip would increase safety.
4) Although it is sharp enough, a serrated version would be nice. When new, these blades are sharp and remain sharp for a while, but some of my older ones are loosing their edge and I take excellent care of all my blades. A serrated edge would extend their life as a picnic knife suitable for soft skinned fruit and veggies such as tomatoes.
Overall, I still love this handy little knife. I carry several in my picnic set color coded for meats, fish and fruits (pineapple tainted with peanut butter tainted with smoked salmon is gross). I always have an extra one in my car bag for impromptu picnics and snacking. However, I also have a serrated victorinox with a separately purchased blade protector for tomatoes and hard crusted breads.
