I bought this ice cream maker hoping to impress my family wit homemade ice cream and all. I tried the easiest recipe in the booklet first, which was the orange sorbet. I followed the instructions perfectly and froze the base like it said. I boiled the ingredients, cooled them, and even left the cooled ingredients an extra day in the fridge so it would work better. I put the mixture in the machine and waited 40 minutes, and it was still liquid! I froze the base with the liquid inside for a little while, and thought that would work, and it's still liquid! Making ice cream couldn't be easier than with this sturdy dependable machine...once you start making your own ice cream , not a summer weekend will go by without it. And your friends that you invite over to share it? They'll think you're the best thing since Ben & Jerry...guaranteed. You'll love this machine. Tip for hot sticky summer days=put the whole machine right in the freezer will it's running to cut on extra time. Do yourself a favor and buy the Ultimate Ice Cream Book and the Ben& Jerry's Ice Cream Book for lots of fun recipes!Customer Review: Makes good ice cream but it's not the easist to use

The Krups ice cream maker makes good ice cream, and the recipes that come in the manual are decent. However, it is fairly complex to use, requires preparation several hours or a day before you want the ice cream, often requires cooking the mixture in a pan, and the reciples in the manual are difficult to understand (it doesn't specify temperatures and stuff like that).But, the ice cream you make should turn out well. And a whole family could get involved with making the ice cream. Plus, the machine is affordable. Overall, it's a good product.

I am a pastry chef, and bought myself a La Glaciere when I finished culinary school, where I had fallen in love with ice creams and sorbets. One of our chef-instructors suggested the Krups machine as a good alternative to the large, and very expensive, ice cream maker we had there. She was absolutely correct. I use it all the time both at home and in the restaurant where I work. I've even run two batches through it back-to-back. If you're going to make a lot, though, I would suggest getting a second canister.Customer Review: Great Ice Cream... No Mess!

I bought this machine because I wanted an ice cream freezer, but don't have a lot of extra space to store a big machine. This one is very compact. It makes wonderful ice cream so easily. I love it. The ONLY problem I have with it is that I don't have room to store it in my freezer all the time, so I have to plan at least 24 hours in advance if I want to make ice cream. No last minute indulgence for me. But that is easily remedied if you have a large freezer that you can store the canister in all the time.
