Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Krups 203-70 Electric Coffee and Spice Grinder with Stainless-Steel blades, WhiteCustomer Review: Great grinder Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent grinder. It grinds coffee very evenly, quickly and fairly quietly. It grinds from coarse to fine grind in just a couple of seconds with no hassle. Performs much better than I expected.
I had read about inexpensive grinders that broke down, got clogged, were loud, or that just didn't grind evenly, but this one has none of these problems. The only thing is that you do need to get a brush if you want to completely clean out the remaining coffee inside the compartment, since you're not supposed to get it wet. But I guess that's true about any grinder.
I'm very happy with this product. So many 5-star ratings couldn't be wrong!
Customer Review: Not bad, but not as good as my last Krups Summary: 4 Stars
I've been using Krups coffee grinders for years. My last one was made in Germany, and worked flawlessly until a relative used it to grid 5 lbs of nuts without cleaning it.
This new one has an oval shape, which sucks as the coffee now gets stuck in the two pointy ends. The motor (or gears) makes a very unpleasing sound which initially had me thinking this was either a DOA or soon to fail. Had it for three months not, it still works, still sound awful. The edge of the clear cover collects coffee dust on it, and is a pain to clean.
It does the job, so four stars. But I would not buy this one again, and will be wary of Krups wares.
Customer Review: Oval design not the best Summary: 4 Stars
The combination of value and quality definitely makes this a grinder worth buying, but it ranks behind the Braun KSM2 because of a peculiarity in the Krups design -- its oval shape. That causes grounds to clog at one end of the grinder, where the blade juuust doesn't quite reach. You can even hear the point at which the clogging begins to affect the action of the blade. Getting the grounds out of there requires a little extra work beyond simply inverting and tapping. It's only a minor annoyance, to be sure, but it annoys me every time I use the Krups, and for that reason, I recommend you look to the Braun KSM instead.
Customer Review: Krups grinder-- broke after < 1 year Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this grinder after reading many reviews for various grinders. I did not wish to spend more than $20. I purchased in Dec 09, and it stopped working in Aug 10. I am disappointed, but thankful I didn't spend more. I contacted Krups (manufacturer) as it is still in warranty, but I would need to ship it back to them for repair. For an item that costs <$20 new, it doesn't really make sense to ship it back... i'm sure i'll probably have to spend at least half as much to ship it.. We typically used it for seeds and spices. It stopped working while trying to grind cashews, which were soft enough..
Customer Review: Great Little Grinder Summary: 5 Stars
This does the job well, and quickly. Not a huge capacity, but it produces a very fine grind for a blade grinder, and it's really sturdy (I up-end mine every morning and thump it on my cutting board to loosen all the coffee) -- and cheap! You may need to fill and grind twice if you want a full 12-cup pot of very strong coffee, like I sometimes do. But for average daily use, it's great. I use it every morning -- adds 30 secs. to my daily routine (well worth it, IMO), and now I don't shell out for the "boutique corner store" cup of coffee. You can't go wrong with this little machine.
