Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Krups 085 20-Ounce Stainless Steel Frothing PitcherCustomer Review: Totally worth getting Summary: 5 Stars
For all the good reasons:
- Looks great
- Feels sturdy, will last a lifetime
- Pours very very cleanly
- Handle is just right to tilt and froth
- When you have a froth head on the milk, you can adjust the tilt so it releases liquid milk from the lower part, or drops foam. Sometimes you need a spoon to control which you get, but not as often as the steel cup I used before this one.
- If you start with half of this cup, you can froth it to the brim and fill a 15-oz glass to the overflow point. So it's not entirely 20oz since you lose some froth on pouring, but if you have that fine solid froth you don't lose much.
- Great for frothing milk for hot chocolate too
Tip: I put sugar (raw) and a touch of vanilla in the pitcher itself, and you get a sweet vanilla froth that goes very well on a nicely extracted espresso.
Cons: I have to wash it after use. If it was self-cleaning it would be perfect. Oh well, good thing it comes out of the dishwasher looking like new.
Customer Review: Perfect Cappuccino Every Time Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this frother at a local Bed, Bath, & Beyond, and it was the same price as the one listed here. Sure there are others out there that are less expensive, and if you can find it cheaper, go for it, but this is DEFINITELY a great buy. It's sleek, beautiful, AND functional.
It works very well with my Mr. Coffee ECM21 Espresso/Coffeemaker Combo. It makes perfectly frothed/steamed milk every time. It is very comfortable to use, and the spout pours the milk out smooth, clean, and easy every time. I read that frothers with a pointy spout pour the milk and froth out more accurately than ones with a wider spout like this one, but I don't see how it could be any better than this. I never even have to spoon out any froth.
Overall, I am perfectly satisfied with this frother. We won't ever need a different one.
Customer Review: Pleased, no complaints Summary: 5 Stars
Usage: Semi-daily lattes or cappuccinos for myself or two with my Rancilio Silvia espresso machine.
After buying a much smaller "frothing pitcher" that is really better described a creamer, I bought this 20-ounce pitcher. While I normally make lattes only for myself, there is room in this pitcher to steam enough milk for two drinks when desired. For one drink I need to fill only 2/5 capacity, but it fits just fine between my steaming wand and the drip tray on my Rancilio Silvia. The "drip-resistant" lip delivers on its promise--I don't drip when I pour milk.
I've been using this pitcher for a few months now, and I am definitely satisfied. Great pitcher at a fair price--and it's attractive to boot! Highly recommended for the personal or low-volume barista.
Customer Review: A must-have for the latte-lover Summary: 5 Stars
This may seem like a silly thing to want, but the Krups pitcher is just the right size and shape to make good frothed milk for lattes, cafe au lait or capucchino. The shape is just the right height to put the nozzle under the milk and get either steamed milk or frothed milk. It fits well under the steam outlet in my DeLonghi coffee machine or under the nozzle on the espresso maker. We clip the insta-read thermometer to the side to get the right temperature milk.
If you haven't had coffee with heated milk (especially in winter) it's a real treat. It doesn't have to be espresso, just foam the milk with the steam outlet and serve with brewed coffee. If you have coffee-loving friends, this is a wonderful little gift to give.
Customer Review: Bigger not better? Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this Krups frothing pitcher along with a Gaggia espresso machine. It's stainless, very attractive - and big. For my uses, it turns out to be too wide and too tall. I never heat/froth 20 oz. of milk or even close. Usually only a cup, 8 oz. or less. With this pitcher I find I have to tilt it in order to get the frothing wand beneath the surface. I've even used a 1 cup stainless steel measuring cup instead of the Krups because of the size. In itself, this pitcher is probably a 5-star item; for me and my personal use, I have to subtract a star. Reminds me of the story of the stork who was given a saucer to drink from - and a bulldog (I think?) who was provided with a tall slim glass... See what I'm saying?
