Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Kness Mfg 102-0-019 Snap-E Mouse TrapCustomer Review: Very Easy To Set. Bloodless and Gutless Solution. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought three of these to rid my garage of a mice problem. I wasn't sure if a $1.99 product would do the trick, but I wanted to try it first before I bought one the more hi-tech ones like the electric zappers. The box arrived in only three days, even though I chose the least expensive shipping option. I had my finger smashed by one of the cheap wooden traps when I was a kid, so I was worried about setting these traps. I was disappointed that there weren't really any instructions. Just sort of a picture on a sticker on the bottom of the trap. However, it was extremely easy to set. You just need to pull back the vertical bar so the yellow bar rises by 90 degrees. Then you sort of jiggle it so the platform "catches", and that's it. I was a bit nervous that it would snap when I set it on the floor, but that hasn't been a problem. I've set all three traps for four nights in a row now, and so far I've caught ten lucky mice. I use a tiny piece of ham lunch meat as the bait. The other cool thing is that there's no blood or anything. I thought it would pop their heads or something, but I guess it just breaks their necks. Gross, I know, but we are talking about killing mice here, not catch and release. By the way, I paid an exterminator $200 about a year ago to get rid of mice in our crawl space. His solution? Set the same type traps that I could have used myself. Anyway, this trap works very well. Order several or you'll just be catching a couple at a time and it will take longer to solve the problem.

The Snap-E works well and is easy to reset. It has strong fast action and seems to kill better. Sometimes it catches a mouse by the leg or the tip of the nose, but this doesnt happen as often as with the conventional wood traps.
MOUSE TRAP TRIALS:
I bought the Nooski for my mouse infested chicken house. I also bought a Kness Ketch-All 101-0-002. In addition I attached one of my Snap-E traps to a board which I slid under a nesting box---unreachable to curious chickens. I baited all traps with peanut butter and a crumb of carmel/chocolate X-mas cookie.
CASUALTIES:
The first evening I caught a whole family in the Kness--5 mice, reset, 2 mice, reset, 1 mouse-- and 4 mice in the Snap-E--having to reset 4 times. Nooski 0.
The next day all were caught in the Snap-E. The Kness has had small yields since that first evening (its tucked in the hay bales now) and 6 days later, between the Snap-E and the Kness Ive caught 28 mice. Nooski still at O but I did find it sprung and had to reset it. If you are able to check and reset the Snap-E often, its a great trap.
I dont rescue mice because, among other things, they carry Toxoplasmosis gondii parasite. T. gondii alters the brains/ behaviors of mice and causes them to be attracted to the scent of cats. T. gondii also causes psychosis in the human brain. More info here: [...]
For this reason, I dont feed mice to the hens either altho, chickens go wild over mouse "cru".
Customer Review: HERE'S A TIP TO GET THEM ALL!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Ok, these traps are fantastic but I have watched certain little baby mice (who are not heavy enough to trigger the trap) eat all of the peanut butter and walk away and then come back for seconds like our porch was Hometown Buffet or something. Well, years ago I came up with the perfect plan to solve that problem. I purchased some Contrac rodenticide poison pellet bags and a six pack of these Snap-E traps for a decent price on Ebay (I couldn't find the six pack here) and I caught 9 mice in three days. I opened the pellet bags and mixed a few of them in with the peanut butter and baited the traps with the mixture. So, even when the baby mice fill up on second and third helpings and then walk away happy.....they won't be walking for long. For people who don't want to get too close when disposing of the remains, just open a wire hanger to the desired length, hook the trap and hold over the trash can/bag and with the free hand squeeze the silver bar and release the mouse. It is so easy!! The traps did catch one little guy but only caught its leg and didn't kill him so after much debate on what to do we decided to take him for a ride out to a field and set him free. Look, I know he probably doesn't "stand" a chance out there and if they would all jump in my car I would gladly give them a ride to any other place but mine but that's not how life works and they need to go. So, again, these traps work...PERIOD!! It's not the trap's fault that some mice are light on their feet.
Customer Review: Absolutely amazing, works like magic, buy it now!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the snap-e trap at another website for a little bit cheaper after reading the excellent reviews on amazon. Let me first mention all the traps I tried before stumbling on this little invention. I tried the classic wooden snap traps, but the mice would steal the bait (peanut butter) without setting off the traps. After doing some online research I tried tying some beef jerky with a thread to the trap, but the mice either avoided the trap or some even stole the bait. I also tried the glue boards but they totally avoid the traps, I actually saw one SOB sniffing the glue board and go around it. These suckers are incredibly smart.
Then after some more research I came upon the snap-e trap. The day I got it I set up the trap, which is very easy to do with the handle (no setting it off on your fingers), and volla, I got one mouse and a couple hours later using the same trap and bait (the mouse set off the trap before it had a chance to touch the bait). These traps are awesome. The handle lets you release the dead mouse without touching it and reuse it. I wonder why retailers like Home Depot and Lowes don't carry these. If you're wondering what makes this trap better than all the rest of them, it's the way the bait cup is positioned. It lies below the trigger plate so the mouse has to step up on the trigger plate to get to the bait. Genius!!! Buy this trap, no more stolen baits. These work like magic.
Customer Review: Best. Mousetrap. Ever. Summary: 5 Stars
I live in southwest Colorado, and while it is beautiful here, the mice can be a problem. I live in an apartment complex, and even though I keep it as clean as I can, I started seeing mice within a couple months of moving in. I've never had to deal with mice before, so I went to Amazon to see which models got the highest review. The Snap-E was hands down the highest rated, so I bought a couple. They are dirt cheap, so I have bought a few more since then. I set this baby up between my washer and dryer (the mice are coming in through the wall behind them), and BAM, within several hours I had caught one. Easily disposed of, easily reset, no need to re-bait. Couple hours later, BAM, there it goes again. I've caught several mice already, no fuss, no muss. It's brilliantly designed, with the bait being set in the middle of the trigger plate so the mouse actually has to walk onto the thing. This trap has some power to it too, from what I've seen the kills have been instant or close to it. I wouldn't want to get my finger caught in this thing, but that's not a worry because of the two bar design. The ONLY time I had a misfire was when I put too much peanut butter in the trap, allowing the mouse access to it without walking onto it. Since then they have been flawless. This trap is the real deal, do yourself a favor and buy it!
