I've always had great faith in the KitchenAid brand but this thing is a total waste of money. When I tried to use it to cut through a potato, I thought that I must be doing something wrong because nothing should be this difficult. So, my husband tried. Even he couldn't get it to cut properly. If you find a potato that won't disintegrate while you're trying to cut it with this gadget then you have one very tough potato and if you can find a man who can get this thing to slice through a potato properly then marry him because he's a real he-man! I simply don't know anyone strong enough to make these dull blades slice through any potato on earth. A french fry cutter is useless if it won't slice a potato and if I want an apple slicer I can buy one for $2-$3. I wouldn't waste my money on this one.
Description of KitchenAid multi Slicer
Now you can have matchstick julienne carrots or cheese, a sectioned and cored apple, or a pile of neatly cut French fries in no time at all. This multi slicer features oversized non-slip handles and three slicer inserts. All you do is load the insert of choice and snap it securely to the bottom of the slicer housing, place food on a cutting board, and apply downward pressure to the handles of the slicer to push it through the food.This slicing gadget is a supplement to a food processor, performing slicing jobs that most food processors can?t do well with disc inserts. The tool comes with three different square stainless-steel inserts that snap into the two-handed slicer. Aligning the slicer over food and then pushing down by hand cuts the food into the desired shape.The pie-shaped insert is ideal for coring apples or pears, while the two grid-shaped inserts cut potatoes for French fries or dice other cooked vegetables in either thick or thin widths. The ergonomic handles have comfortable Santoprene grips that keep the slicer from slipping out of your hands. Inserts are all dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. --Cristina Vaamonde
