Customer Review: Solid, boils water, whistles, everything you need in a tea kettle

I bought my grey (discontinued color, I meant to order a stainless steel model) KitchenAid tea kettle over two years ago, and was surprised to read reviews about rusting, warping, no whistle, dripping or various other issues. I've experienced none of these.
There are three things you might consider that may be a problem: the fixed handle gets hot, and although it has silicone grips covering a section of it, I find I still need to use a pot holder. Initially, I didn't like the fixed handle, but now I see it's value. It's not resting on the kettle body and stands at the ready.
The kettle holds a good two quarts of water, with some headspace. Yes, you have to turn it upside down to empty it, but when don't you have to do that with a tea kettle? I don't leave water in mine; perhaps that would contribute to the rusting issue.
The cover is relatively difficult to remove, as one reviewer noted, it takes two fingers of each hand to pop it off and two to put it back on. It's a very tight fit; I don't know if that's necessarily an issue, but I do wish it was a little easier to remove and replace. The cover over the spout needs to be manually pulled up before pouring water, an issue? Nah.
I haven't noticed the dripping or leaking problems other reviewers mentioned; it does spit a bit when pouring right after the water has come to a boil, many kettles do that, especially if they're full, but I give it a minute to calm down and it works just fine. The whistle is long and very audible. The enamel coating is heavy duty and easily cleanable, as is the handle and cover; it's a well made kettle with classic styling that will last for years with proper care. I expect to have mine for a good length of time. However, if needed, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this kettle again, but in black next time.
My review of 4 stars reflects the difficulty of removing the lid and the fact that the handle heats up. These are minor inconveniences of an otherwise good product.
