i had bought myself a kitchen aid mixer after wanting one for years and decided to purchase the accessories i'd use most. this set of pasta plates for on the grinder attachment are very neat. i was a little worried about them being plastic, but i've used them quite a few times and haven't had a problem. you get a nice variety of pasta shapes, and it makes you look like a gourmet chef when you make your own pasta from scratch. a must have for any pasta lover, or aspiring chef!Customer Review: hardly useful

i agree with other reviewers ,it is barely adequate for lasagne and fettucini noodles, but I have never been able to use it to make spagetti no matter how i "tweaked" the recipe. All the other attachments I have for my mixer are very functional and I use the attachments on a regular basis. I have had these plates for about 15 years and even though I am an avid cook I have tried to use them about 5 times, always with poor results. Kitchenaid, stop selling this!!Customer Review: Give up store-bought pasta (almost)

I also have the pasta roller plates. I only use store-bought pasta for shapes that aren't covered between the attachments (use these for round pasta). This is very easy to use and easy to clean. Making the pasta goes pretty fast too. It takes a little practice to get the length perfect, but that's part of the fun. The bowl clips that come in the set are an added bonus because they are extremely helpful when kneading stiff bread and cookie doughs.

This attachment is easy to use and, more importantly for homemade pasta lovers, it is easy to clean. It's made of durable plastic resin and and comes with a space-saving storage design. The biggest drawback is that it comes with pretty boring plates: Two types of spaghetti, macaroni,lasagna, and egg noodle. Would have been far cooler if they had included plates for a large gauge rigatoni and a fusilli.Customer Review: I've seen better

This works ok. it's fairly easy and makes a decent pasta...
However this does not work as well as the pasta rollers as the pasta tends to get stuck together after being extruded.
I think the issues i saw with this are probably all just limitations of extruding pasta machines.
my final verdict is that you should just go out and buy a pasta roller instead those work great.
