Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid SNPA Pasta Maker Plates for Food Grinder Attachment for Stand MixersCustomer Review: Don't waste your money Summary: 1 Stars
Even if you already own the food grinder don't waste your money on the pasta attachment. Since this is more of an extrusion pasta maker, the pasta does not get the nice thin texture that is necessary in fresh pasta. I made lasagna noodles from this attachment and had to roll out every noodle by hand after it had been extruded because it wasn't thin enough.
If you love fresh pasta, as I do, you would be better off buying the actual stainless steel, traditional pasta roller attachment for your kitchen aid. It is more expensive, but well worth the extra money. I use this attachment all the time and always get the results that I am looking for. When my husband purchased the pasta attachment it came as a set with the food grinder. The food grinder is awesome.
Customer Review: Good Product. A bit pricey, but its Kitchen Aid!.. You get what you pay for Summary: 4 Stars
Its a good product, and very useful. Its a fast, fun and affordable way for a family to make pasta together. I got my first one when I bought my mixer while in College about 15 yrs ago. My mixer is going strong still and just got my mom the Pro model for the Bed and Breakfast we have. I got my cousins and nephews into making pasta, esp Chocolate Dessert Pasta, and it helped them learn to cook and enjoy it, and most smart men know, ladies love a man that can cook!!!!
Enjoy it and have fun with it! Would have been 5 Stars, but I thought the price was a tad too high when I bought a replacement one this year after I moved and my original one got misplaced.
Customer Review: Satisfactory but not great Summary: 4 Stars
I just started using the pasta plastic dies with the food grinder attachment on my KitchenAid artisan. I must say that it is easy to extrude the pasta dough thru the plates contrary to what others here will have you believe. My first batch of fettucini came out okay but the noodles got stuck together. It was my fault for not resting the dough 15 minutes since I ran it thru the extruder right away after kneading. Cleanup is fairly easy. I have only tried the basic egg noodle/pasta recipe. I will experiment with samolina flour and see what happens with that dough. This is definitely a lot easier than the manual pasta roller/cutter combination.
Customer Review: Not Worth It Summary: 1 Stars
I have been making pasta for years. So when I received the Professional 5 for a gift, I wanted to get the pasta attachment to make it easier on my hands. Was I wrong. Since it was their equipment, I used their recipe. I put the flat noodle plate in and 40 minutes later, I still did not have decent noodles. The holes in the plate are too narrow for the dough to pass through without overtaxing the motor on the mixer. It got very hot. I did not buy the pasta maker to ruin my mixer.
I brought out my Marcato and had all the noodles drying in less than 10 minutes.
The pasta maker is not worth the cost of postage.
Customer Review: Nice set. Summary: 5 Stars
Love the container that holds all the blades, bowl clips, etc. in one place. It keeps it all together, so I'm not constantly looking and rummaging through drawers to find the parts. However, I was not aware that I needed the grinder to be able to use these blades. I thought they were add ons for my pasta rollers (duh! right?) Anyway, I had to order the grinder before using these blades. I just received the grinder, so have not had a chance to use the blades yet. I am, however, looking forward to using this set, especially with the price of pasta going sky high along with all the rest of the groceries. (THANK YOU OIL COMPANIES!!!)
