Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KSM150PSWH Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, White

Customer Review: awesome product
Summary: 5 Stars

As a cooking/baking challenged single 41 year old, I'd been eyeballing this bad boy for a while. While I haven't had too much time to play around with it yet this is one solid piece of equipment. It's also quite heavy so make sure you have a permanent, accessible spot for it in you kitchen (my undersized kitchen needed to be rearranged to give my Kitchenaid the spot it needed). I'm still nervous about converting certain recipes I used to do by spoon/spatula to stand mixer for fear of over mixing but the mini cookbook included gives you good tips (I also recommend Alton Brown's "I'm Just Here For (More) Food" as he tell you up front a Kitchenaid Professional is what he's using for most recipes made with a mixer)

With Holidays ahead I hope to really put this baby through the works. Amazon had such a great deal and really, it's as solid investment as you'll make on a small kitchen appliance

Customer Review: KitchenAid mixer
Summary: 5 Stars

What a joy it is to work with a five quart heavy duty mixer that makes short work of even the toughest jobs. This is the one that we were looking for to make dough, mix meats, and every other kitchen task we needed to do. It's powerful, easy to use, and simple to clean. It has made the holidays something special by helping to create all manners of holiday goodies.

It does take some counter space to keep it set up and it is very heavy, but that was to be expected. That is a small price to pay for a machine that keeps working for years after lesser mixers have long ago given up the ghost in a cloud of acrid burning smoke. Our first KitchenAid mixer was purchased 20 years ago and this replacement is exactly the same as the old one. I gave the old one to a friend who teaches home ec. She uses it regularly with middle school kids and it just keeps working - day after day.

Customer Review: A Great Investment

There is a reason why professionals prefer to use Kitchenaid Stand Mixers. They are simply the best. This is not only an appliance that will last a lifetime, it is a beautiful addition to any kitchen decor. I loved mine so much I bought one for my sister as a housewarming gift.
The mixer is fun and easy to use. I love making cookies and cakes in it, and pizza dough takes about 2 minutes to make with the dough hook. I don't recommend making pie crusts or biscuits in it though, some things just must be made by hand or they will be overworked and tough. But I don't buy pre-made cake frosting anymore. It's too easy to whip up something in the kitchenaid, and it tastes better too.
I would think that the only people who wouldn't like this excellent piece of equipment are those who really don't cook or bake much anyway. For everyone else, do yourself a favor and get one!

Customer Review: Love this mixer
Summary: 5 Stars

We got our daughter a KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in Ice as a wedding gift when she was married in October. She told me how fantastic it was and I decided after 34 years of marriage I deserve a mixer too. I bought it in Pear and I love it. It is the best mixer I've ever owned. Within a week of receiving it, I made 4 batches of different Christmas cookies and they all came out beautiful. I also made a lemon meringue pie. My husband said it was the best meringue he ever tasted. I used to have to mix forever to hopefully get soft peaks. This made perfect stiff peaks in no time at all. I was lucky to get it from Bed Bath and Beyond using a 20% coupon and free shipping. There was also a $30 rebate. I also got the shredder/slicer attachment which works really great. I really love this mixer and I'm thrilled to finally have my own KitchenAid Stand Mixer in a pretty color.

Customer Review: Mixer gets better with time!!!!
Summary: 3 Stars

After years of hearing how necessary a stand mixer is we took the plunge. Our hand mixer of many years was defeated by some thick cookie dough.

The 5 quart bowl seems a bit small ( we have double convection ovens so double cookie batches are the norm) and, with cookie and cake dough, there seems to be a dry residue at the bottom of the bowl. It is inconvenient to stop and scrape over and over.

Yesterday we used it to start pizza dough....that was terrific.

This mixer is a good bread dough device but a good hand mixer is still preferred for many batters.

Of course, everyone we know raves about the mixer....maybe we are missing something....or maybe they haven't used a hand mixer!

Update time. As time has passed we have come to love the mixer for everything. If you like to bake...you need this mixer!
