I have had my Kitchen Aid mixer for several years now. I have used the Pro version in the past in a commercial kitchen. The Artisan is perfect for the home baker. If you are considering a mixer purchase this one is well worth the price.
Until I used a Kitchen Aid I really didn't believe they could make such a difference. IT DOES. Granted a new mixer will not turn you into a great Baker or a Chef...but this one will certainly make things better & easier for you.
And you know if you burn the cookies you can always hook up the ice cream attachment for dessert :)

I bought my Kitchenaid mixer in May 2006. I had been wanting one for a long time, and finally was able to afford one through Amazon. This is a hard working and dependable machine. I often make double batches of cookies, breads, other heavy doughs in it. It does the job so fast and well that I no longer have sore hands after baking these things. I purchased the vegetable shredder attachment, which makes the job of cutting up cabbage for cole slaw a snap. All of the mixer parts wash up easily, including the stainless steel bowl, which is invaluable for so many kitchen chores. I call my new helper "Black Beauty". I knew I wanted a KitchenAid brand stand mixer. I was pretty sure that I wanted the 325 watt, but looked at the 450w and 650w professional models. I shopped several stores and on-line sites. Amazon.com had the best price hands down. I was immediately in the market for accessories and found that Amazon.com was the place to purchase these as well. The Super Saver Shipping was quicker than expected and the product was in perfect condition. I have and will continue to refer people to Amazon.com for all their KitchenAid product wants and needs. I had been wanting this mixer for years and finally received it for Christmas. I have had less expensive mixers in the past- even the $99 Sunbeam with the same power as this mixer. The problem with the others is that they were not heavy enough to stay in place when I would make cookie or bread dough. Not so with this machine. It is solid and barely moves with the thickest of doughs. I had to give up baking from scratch due to arthritis until I got this mixer. It makes the process so easy and painless that I can now bake again. I love this machine!!! It has been worth every penny. I love my new KitchenAid Stand Mixer. So far it works great. it was perfectly adjusted for clearance when it arrived, and everything works well. I wish more recipes and tips of how to adapt recipes had been included with the machine. For a couple of days I just wasn't quite sure what to do with it or how to use recipes I already have with it. I have found some tips on-line but would like more. It is a beautiful machine. I was not prepared for how much movement it makes in kneading bread, but I assume that is normal. I also was given the ice cream attachment, which I will add comments on once I have a chance to try it.
