Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red

Customer Review: How did I ever live without it?
Summary: 5 Stars

I confess to being partly attracted to this appliance because I love anything that comes in red. That having been said, I'm also a good cook who loves to entertain in grand style and make things from scratch. I also have a 2-year old son who lives for making cookies in our "Cookie-monster" as he calls it. Knowing that about myself, why I never got this thing before is beyond me. It's so powerful! Fresh whipped cream in seconds. None of that processed Cool Whip junk ever again. I can have the potatoes mashing while doing other things. Several batches of cookies at once without wondering if you're going to blow a fuse with that terrible little hand-held. And, if you just feel like zoning after a stressful week, don't underestimate the soothing hypnotic quality of a rotating arm and the hum of motor as the smell of chocolate brownies wafts from your oven :) Enjoy ladies!

I also own an Osterizer Kitchen Center after 25+ years of use along with experiencing the motor's irregular speed fits. And also, envious of the KitchenAid reputation decided on this product 4 years ago. I very rarely use it and am thankful for my standby Oster and a Sunbeam handmixer I may have to replace soon. The KitchenAid never fully mixes the stuff on the bottom, it is difficult to scrape the sides besides having to take the time to mix the bottom, and forget trying to whip up Dream Whip topping. The motor seems to be louder and more annoying than any other appliance I have and my husband and visitors have asked, "Do they all sound like that?" But, I have talked to other owners of the smaller KitchenAid Mixers who are quite happy with the results. I did purchase a grinder attachment and am very happy with the results but I could have stuck with just my Oster. ...

Customer Review: Upholds my expectations
Summary: 5 Stars

I've always wanted a high end professional mixer. So when the motor on my 10yr old hand mixer burned-out it was time to splurge. At first, I did my research of all the different stand mixers and paid close attention to the reviews. The KitchenAid Artisan Series 5 had the most positive reviews and I loved the many color choices available. I was concerned from some reviews that stated the mixer "failed to mix the ingredients at the bottom of the bowl", but that hasn't been the case. I've used my mixer first to mix a heavier cookie dough recipe with date nuts and then with a simple cake mix recipe. Both times the mixer did a complete job at mixing all the ingredients. There was no scraping of the bowl needed during the mixing process. I have been greatly satisfied with my purchase and look forward to making breads and pizza dough with it next!

Customer Review: I love it!

I have wanted one of these for over ten years. So when my boyfriend asked what I wanted for Christmas I jokingly said a kitchenaid because that is what I am used to saying to everyone. I had no idea he would actually get it for me. I have always enjoyed baking, especially bread, but it always took so much time. For the first time today, it did not and it was BETTER than hand made. Not to mention the ridiculously yummy scones it made in minutes. The truth is, it will not make you a better cook, but it will make a good cooks life, a LOT easier. I used to kneed bread for 20 minutes (dedication or frustration...?) and today I only had to kneed for... well nothing, the mixer did it FOR ME! As a result the bread was more evenly kneaded and the French bread actually tastes like French bread!! So to sum up, if you want to bake a lot, or already do. Get this machine.

Customer Review: Works like a Charm!

My husband and I decided to buy this for a mutual Valentines day present this year and I couldn't be happier! A slight and easy adjustment gets the bottom dry bits (as some have complained about) and mine is very very quiet.

I have never had an experience with a stand mixer before- my grandmother uses a fork, my mom uses hand mixers- I had a hand mixer for years. I finally blew the motor on my 4th hand mixer last christmas (2 in the same holiday!) and we decided to just buy the stand mixer. My eggs are fluffy- my whipped cream is light and airy- my cookies are well mixed. You can leave it going for as long as you like while you get ingredients and put them in, and it's so quiet you can watch TV with it on in the next room.

Plus- with a mixer in fire engine red... It makes me smile every time I walk into the kitchen and see it!
