Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire RedCustomer Review: Pleased with it... Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased the Empire Red Artisan for $199.99 minus a $25 Amazon discount. I rated it 4 stars because of 2 minor quirks. First, the bowl was stuck when I tried to take it out of the mounting. It took a little bit of muscle power to turn it but I eventually got it loose and off. It has not gotten stuck again and hopefully will not do do in the future.
The other quirk is the power lever. It seems a bit stuck too when I try to turn it on. So I have to use muscle power again and the lever ends up on 8 and the contents of my bowl go flying. Once I have the machine turned on, the lever moves smoothly.
Other than that, I love this machine! It takes less time than a hand mixer. I can add all of my ingredients to the bowl at once instead of adding a couple of ingredients and then mixing, adding more ingedients. etc. I would recomment the Artisan to those of you who bake a lot.
Customer Review: Great quality! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this mixer with the intention of using it for smaller jobs, and it fits the bill perfectly. Where I would normally use my 6 quart KitchenAid, this mixer is the perfect size for smaller jobs. I even bought the smaller 3-quart bowl for really small jobs, and that is a great value.
There is plenty of power in the Artisan Series, even for small batches of bread and dinner rolls. If you cook in quantity, but also need a mixer for the smaller jobs, this one is the one for you.
It seems that the folks at Whirlpool (which purchased the KitchenAid appliance line) have listened to customers' complaints regarding quality issues with some KitchenAid models in recent years. This machine definitely lives up to the KitchenAid name; it is relatively quiet, very powerful, and I would certainly buy this again, if need be, and I definitely do recommend it without hesitation.
Customer Review: A must for anyone who cooks and bakes!!! Summary: 5 Stars
To say that i am pleased with my kitchenaid artisan is an understatement!! I have had it for 3 months now, and i wonder how i baked without it!! It has plenty of power, it is easy to use, is very secure on your counter and has a new type of splash guard that is wonderful. With all the color options, you can find one that will look beautiful on your counter. This machine comes with a deep 5qt bowl that locks into its base for secure mixing, so you never have to worry that the bowl will "spin away" while you move away from the machine. It can handle the lightest whipped cream or the heaviest bread dough with ease. There are only two drawbacks to this machine, and they are minor. One, it only comes with one bowl, and secondly, you have to be careful not to overbeat some batters. This machine is strong. If you like to bake, and you buy anything but a kitchenaid, you will probably be disappointed!
Customer Review: The best mixer on the market Summary: 5 Stars
Ten years ago I bought the Kitchen Aid mixer and loved it. The only thing I didn't like about it was the plastic piece that you place on the bowl was in two pieces and a complete hassle to use. Well, I moved country and had to buy another with different voltage, and guess what! They fixed it! Now you just slip the plastic piece on, and pour things in! It is nice to know that this product just keeps getting better. This is the best mixer you can buy- no question about it. It is worth every cent. It never fails me, is easy to clean, and is very versatile. Great for baking bread. I don't know how you can bake without one. Try the pasta attachments for a bit of fun making your own pasta! It is a great thing to do with the kids. Too bad it is just a little bit too expensive, but I guess that is because you only need one for generations. Look at it as an investment in your kid's future!
Customer Review: When the mixer is a rockin'... Summary: 3 Stars
I've waited a LOOONG time for a Kitchenaid mixer..and my time is finally here! I was like a kid at Christmas when I opened the box and pulled out MY shiny, red, beautiful Kitchenaid Mixer! I made muffins and cookies without any problem and was very pleased. However, when it came time to make rolls for Thanksgiving using the dough hook, I found that the lock didn't lock down the head tightly enough, and the head of the mixer was bouncing and bucking, causing the mixer to "walk" backward. I had to hold it down to keep it from bucking so hard and to keep it from walking right off the counter! My mother-in-law was here (she also has a kitchenaid mixer) and she said that while the mixer does get to "rocking and rolling" when she makes bread, what mine was doing was NOT right. Sadly, I packed it up and have requested a replacement..and it will be here in 2 days. First assignment..making bread!
