For years I balked at the cost however, after replacing two underpowered poor-performing handmixers over the years, I took the plunge and purchased the KitchenAid Stand Mixer. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner! This mixer has provided me with four years of hands-free use, with predictable power and consistency. It makes wonderful lump-free batters, stiff meringue, smooth frostings, perfect whipped potatoes, and even kneads bread dough. The included recipe book is a perfect introduction to it's array of capabilities but don't hesitate to let it take over other chores in the kitchen. There are a multitude of tasks the mixer can perform with optional accessories that are available for purchase. Turn last night's roast into today's sandwich using the meat grinding attachment, churn out authentic fettuccine with the Pasta Attachment, prepare fresh juice using the Juicing Attachment, it can even open cans and mill grains. I had previously owned a Kitchen-Aid Artisan mixer for many years and decided to buy a new one. I purchased a new Red Artisan Mixer 5 months ago. When I first used it, something just seemed to be wrong with it. The beater wouldn't go around on Speed #2 and was sluggish on other speeds. I thought maybe it would get better with use. It didn't get better - it got much worse and was completely useless. I got out my books and saw that Kitchen-Aid gave a one-year guarantee on the Mixer. I called their number, talked to a very nice representative and in one week - they had a new mixer delivered to my home by UPS. I was told to pack up the non-functioning mixer and UPS would call and come back and pick up the broken mixer. Everything worked out exactly as the Kitchen-Aid representative said it would. I am VERY PLEASED with their service department. I thought others would like to know of my experience obtaining a replacement for the broken mixer and of the truth in their one-year guarantee on the stand mixers.

I absolutely love this machine. It works perfectly great to make dough, whip cream, and more. I got the machine at Amazon because I saved lots of money. The retail price at stores is $299.99 and I got it for $169.99 (Price was $199.00 and signing up for a amazon card takes off $30.00). Not only did I save money for a great machine but I'm enjoying everything I can make with it. I definitely recommended. This machine will give you the opportunity to enjoy baking again. The only upside down about the machine is that it is heavy. I recommend that you just leave it on your kitchen counter that way you won't have to haul it around. However, it is not so heavy as that it is impossible to be carry. I'm a very petite 4'10" woman and I'm able to pick it up. Another advice is that if you do not leave it on your kitcken counter is that you should always carry it by the base of the machine to prevent any accidents. I forgot to lock the head one time and I almost dropped it. Otherwise buy it!!!Customer Review: I'm officially the "baking goddess" now!

I have wanted this mixer for a few years now, after exhaustive research, and couldn't be more pleased! Granted, since I just got it about a week ago, I haven't had much time to play with it, but I got up early the other morning (very out of character) and knocked out FOUR loaves of bread, two of which were a dense wheat type, with no problems. I see myself loving this mixer for years to come! It does smell like it is overheating when you are working with the heavier doughs, but the manual warns you of it, and says it's OK, so don't panic.
Might I also recommend the new silicone baking pans -- things pop right out! I also got an Ove-Glove -- pretty cool, but don't forget you don't have one on the other hand (been there, won't make the same mistake twice). Anyway, the Artisan can be had for a steal if you hit it at the right time, especially on Amazon, and it comes in so many fun colors these days -- how could you pass it up?

I have been wanted this mixer for a few years now, but have always had some excuse not to get it.... takes up too much space, overkill, too much money, etc. But this year I told my husband I wanted the Red Artisan instead of jewelry for Christmas. He thought I was nuts. I went and picked it out to be sure I got the one I had been dreaming of for so long. I thought I'd need a lot of time to figure everything out, but it was so simple to set up and get going. Christmas Night I got it out of the box and washed it all up and put it in its permanent spot on my counter (I did find the room). It was all ready for me this morning to make a cheesecake for a family dinner tonight. It went through 4 blocks of cream cheese like nobody's business. I'm glad I finally got this time-saving machine and quit making excuses of why not to get one. I'm sure I'll enjoy using this for many years to come. (P.S. I still got jewelry for Christmas!)
