Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire RedCustomer Review: Love this mixer so far Summary: 5 Stars
I received my KitchenAid Artisan mixer a few days ago. I took it out of the box and made brown bread and chocolate chip cookies the first day. The brown bread has always been a problem to make for me because it has such a thick batter. Not a problem for this mixer. No more getting my husband to stir the batter. It mixed right up. I retired my 43 yr old Sunbeam Mixmaster stand mixer for this KitchenAid mixer. I do not need to constantly scrape the bowl while mixing. So far it is a dream to use. I doubt that I will last another 43 years, but who knows? The KitchenAid might.
I also ordered a KitchenAid stand mixer cover for this mixer. It is high quality and fits the mixer well.
Customer Review: Love it with The Mixer Bible Summary: 5 Stars
I just got the KA mixer for x-mas and I love it! I wish I'd had it for holiday baking and Thanksgiving. I've spent the last few days experimenting with it, making everything from bread to mashed sweet potatoes to pie crust. It handles it all well. Of course, because it's my new baby, I'm tempted to use it all the time, but I'm sure I still will, even when the new wears off. I was given the mixer with The Mixer Bible. I've seen several other reviewers mention the cookbook and I will say that it has been very helpful as I get used to the new piece of equipment. KitchenAid should put a better cookbook in with the mixer, but the one they have is not much help. I'm glad I had the Mixer Bible.
Customer Review: Fantastic mixer!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have waited for this mixer for a few years. I didn't want to spend the money, so I figured I'd shop around. I couldn't find it under $250. for the red one. This Christmas I found it on a Friday sale with free shipping and a mail in for a free grater attachment ($50.value) I decided to purchase for me and I have been using it ever since. Smooth running, not too loud- I only wished I got it sooner, but I did get it for $239. total. I can't beat that price. Works like a charm. I have not made bread yet, but cookies, cakes, and brownies for school and church events. I don't have one thing to complain about. If you want one--get it! It is definitely worth the money!!
Customer Review: Baking delight Summary: 5 Stars
The best thing about this mixer is the bowl cover. No more cleaning the counters and back drops after I mix. The mixer is heavy enough to stay put and I have two hands free. I have not had any trouble mixing cookie dough, even the thick oatmeal raisin. The mixer is a little bit taller than the edge of my top cabinets so I have to tilt it to slide it under when I'm not using it. The weight of the mixer makes this a little difficult, but it's worth it to have a mixer that doesn't travel around when I'm mixing. The other drawback is the placement of the speed switch. I am left handed so I cannot see the switch. I would recommend this for anyone who uses a mixer a lot.
Customer Review: Disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I was so excited to get this mixer, I use them alot. Right away I didn't like that you have to hand wash the bowl and mixer, more work for me. Also it is loud and very heavy. I have arthritis and can not easily pick it up, but my husband couldn't either. So we had to find a place for it on the counter to stay which I prefer not to do. I used to take my other mixing unit out of the pantry to use. My old one was easy to put the ingredience in, this one is much more difficult. The controls are very stiff. You almost have to use two hands to have some control when using it. I was so disappointed with this unit, I wished I saved the money and just replaced what I had been using.
