Customer Review: Own many kitchen aid appliances but this went back

I own many kitchen aid appliances (including a stand mixer, blender and food processor) but I sent this back. I originally purchased it based on the Cooks Illustrated recommendation. The first time I used it, I was happy with its performance, although the extra large flared crock lip felt awkward when handling/washing...I liked how it had the lower simmer temperature (185 degrees the manual states). The second time using it however it cracked about an hour into cooking. Although I read reviews about this problem I dismissed it thinking it was simply a matter of people not being careful with temperature changes...hot to cold or cold to hot. I was VERY careful. However, I was surprised when I heard a sizzling sound and looked to see drops of liquid leaking onto the hot base. Although I know Kitchen aid has great customer service when I had to replace a different product, I was not willing to take this chance again with the bother of packaging, etc... only to possibly experience a crack again, and possibly even have a safety problem if I had a pot crack when I wasn't home. Normally I love Kitchen Aid, but not this product.
