Customer Review: Kitchen Aid did not live up to its reputation with the KSB5 series of blenders

I am a big fan of Kitchen Aid. My whole kitchen, stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, blender, etc--all Kitchen Aid. Everything is wonderful except this blender is a piece of junk. So sad that they haven't come up with a replacement part for the cheap and poorly designed plastic/rubber coupling gear on the blender base. I have only LIGHTLY used this blender a few times and i am ordering replacement part (which will inevitably face the same fate!). The coupling gear just "melts" like bubble gum on normal use. (i mean smoothing out a liquid for about 40 seconds, not crushing ice or doing any major 'work'.)
The blender is not a cheap one, but the cheapie one i had years ago is still working and my Kitchen Aid blender is out of service until i can repair it myself.
I am thinking of contacting the company to beg them to create a better replacement part!!
