Customer Review: Works Great - Well Designed - Worth the Extra

My wife and I are on a diet where we use a blender several times daily. Our old blender did not last long under frequent use. When my wife wanted the KitchenAid blender over the other well rated blenders - I was skeptical there would be any difference or enough to justify the cost difference.
I beleive the kitchenaid blender (the 5 speed with auto-ice crusher feature) to be well worth it - in design, functionality - and ruggedness. It has a heavy duty motor that takes up half the space (height wise) on the counter. You can feel the diffence just in the weight. The one piece pitcher which covers the motor top - makes clean up of both the motor and pitcher a snap.
The auto ice crusher feature is great and actually reduces the time it takes to make a shake. Were as on a regular blender - you have to let it run and run to get "most of" the ice crushed - now I simply press the Ice Crusher button - and let it run for about 15 seconds - then the liquify button for a few seconds. When I have to make shakes away from home - we can readily tell a difference in the shake.
