Got tired of burned toast on the low settings with my old toasters so paid a little extra and this one is worth the price. This is my first toaster ever where the medium setting gives medium toasting. I really like that the toast doesn't pop up automatically but when I want. The lift lever works great. Seems to work fast enough but I haven't timed it. Just so happy that it works right every time and I don't have to throw away burned bread and start over hoping to get lucky.Customer Review: Great toaster until...

I love the rock solid construction and the retro design. The manual lever at first seemed odd to me but then I discovered that not only does it keep the toast warm until I'm ready for it but it also allows me to check doneness on breads that I'm not familiar with.
Now the bad news. For such an expensive and simple device I was really surprised when the unit died on me right out of warranty. That would be expected of a $12 toaster not a Kitchen Aid.

I'm not going to burn a whole lot of words writing about a toaster, but I can't imagine a better toaster being available. This machine is rock solid and toasts bread well. What else could you want?
