Customer Review: Doesn't function well

An update, now that I've had this for a few weeks: I'm a bit mystified about all the positive reviews, unless people are responding to the looks, build quality, and control flexibility, which are all above reproach. Maybe the people who like it are making much darker toast than I do, and it works better for that? I don't know. I like medium browned, just crispy toast. I use settings 4 and 5 on this toaster.
1. NOT EVEN: Toasting ordinary sliced bread, it toasts in streaks, not evenly, and the bread is darker at the top than at the bottom. Also, one slot toasts slightly darker than the other one.
2. VERY SLOW: Toast takes forever: by the clock, 2 minutes, 10 seconds for one slice in one slot, set to "5." That's almost three times as long as my previous el-cheapo toaster took (45 seconds to the same "doneness"), and it's long enough that you have to find something else to do in the kitchen while you're waiting for your toast. On the good side, I am keeping the dishwasher emptied now.
3. SLOTS TOO SMALL: Not all kinds of storebought bread fit in the toaster. The "wide loaves" lately so popular will have to be left on the supermarket shelf.
All in all I cannot recommend this. I wish I had the means and time to explore different toasters to find a better one, but I'm stuck. If you want mine, I'll sell it to you for half price! ;-)
