Customer Review: Waste of money.
Summary: 1 Stars

I am really surprised to read positive feedback about KitchenAid KHB300WH hand blender. First, let me tell you that this is my second bad experince with KitchenAid small appliances. The attachment hub socket on my stand mixer stopped working after griding meat.I used it only once. The blender was a gift about three ago. I haven't been using it regulary untill 3 months ago when my son turned 6 months old and I started making food for him. I was not happy with the blender since day one. To me it's not powerful enough after using Braun in Europe. The lid on the chopper will close so tight that I have to ask my husband to open it. The whisk does not sevre its purpose at all. As soon as the liquid starts thickening it falls of the blender or it stops turning. It cannot handle even the easiest job as whipping eggwhites into soft peaks. But the greatest disappointment was yesterday. I blended some fruits (bananas and mango) for my baby. I started feeding him and I noticed dark particles in the food. I felt them, they were plastic. I looked inside the metal shaft and saw that there was a plastic circle that came off and got chopped off during the blending. The plastic circle is attached to the metal shaft with some kind of silicon glue. I assume that the glue must have shrunk from the dishwasher heat. Although the manual says that the attachments are dishwasher safe, I advise not to put the metal shaft into the dishwasher. I will not recommend buying this product. I do not think that this blender priced at $ 80.00 is better than cheap onces prices at $35.00 to $40.00.

Customer Review: Glad I Spent a Little More
Summary: 5 Stars

This KitchenAid immersion blender costs a little more than the competition, but it is well worth it. The construction quality, of course, is first rate. Beyond that, you get a 9-speed drive, so you can slow it down for small batches or gentler processing.

I don't much use the included blending cup, but it is great for storage of something like a whole cubed pineapple. It is now always in my refrigerator. I have only used the whisk once, but it worked OK.

The little chopper accessory is good enough that I've put away my huge Krups food processor, freeing up a chunk of counter space. I may need the Krups sometime for big jobs, but so far this chopper does all I need.

The blending stick, of course, is the star of the show and I kick myself for not getting this sooner. Pureed soups are a breeze and I now find myself like a guy with a hammer in search of nails. This thing is such a treat to use for soups that I'm looking for new recipes. I have a couple of microwaved soup recipes for pureed bean and lentil soups and this makes them one-dish jobs: no more transferring batches to the Krups processor and back to a serving bowl; I just cook and puree right in the bowl.

I've also made a couple of quick smoothies with it, blending everything right in the serving glasses.

Clean-up couldn't be easier, beating out both a food processor and a regular blender by a long shot.

Yeah, I like this thing.

Customer Review: Powerful, good value.

This is really a good product. Powerful motor, churns through almost anything and the variable speeds are a necessity. You'll see some cheaper ones with a single or couple of speeds. I would reccommend against those.

One caution, if you do order from Amazon, do so with the expectation that something will go wrong. I think they may be getting so big that they can't manage it.

We ordered two things for Christmas, both went to the wrong address. This particular product went to a household on the other side of town. They had the right name but the wrong address on the package. The recepient was kind enough to look me up in the phone book and call me to tell me that I had a package at his house. Where Amazon got that address I'll never know. Amazon customer service (aka opium den in Calcutta) assured me that it was my fault and that in 28 days if I hadn't recieved my package, that I could apply for a credit. I couldn't explain to them how that was going to be hard to put a bow on.

My niece has a similar issue. She lives in CA and ordered something big that she didn't want to try to take on the airline, so she asked that it be shipped to her parent's house for Christmas. Of course, it came to her house, Amazon said, 'Tough nuggies", she paid FedEx to ship it to her parent's house.

In summary, I can sure reccommend the product but not the seller.

Customer Review: This is the immersion blender you want!
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had two of these blenders and I am about to buy my third. I use this blender EVERY day, five or more times a day, and it has performed well beyond anything I'd expect. I make meal replacement shakes with this blender, they are about 2 cups of ice, 8oz of liquid, and powder. This blender handles the ice like no other blender I've tried - and I've tried several. The ice is blended to a smooth, creamy consistency every time. Additionally, the blending blade is on a longer stick than most, this blender is long enough to reach the bottom of my 24oz glass. My first blender - at nearly a year old - had a problem with the electric cord where it joins the blender body: the rubber casing broke open and exposed electrical wires. I called KitchenAid customer service and I had a brand new blender sitting on my doorstep in two days, no questions asked. This replacement blender is now two years old and again, the rubber casing where the cord meets the body has broken open. Considering the EXCESSIVE USE this blender has withstood, I have no complain that this happened. Anyone looking for a blender for normal use can buy this blender without hesitation and know they will get their money's worth. I am buying my third next week and I know I will.

Customer Review: The right tool for the job
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm at a point in my life where I am developing a taste for quality, and can finally afford the kind of quality I desire. I like to dabble in the kitchen, so I've been building my arsenal of kitchenware recently. I've invested in some high-quality cookware and utensils, and started working on some appliances. I've got an 11-cup Cuisinart food processor, but that tends to be overkill for a lot of smaller jobs - I hate all the cleanup involved with making a cup of guacamole dip, for instance. I like to use peeled whole tomatoes to make tomato sauce for pasta dishes, but my wife doesn't care for chunks of tomato in the finished sauce. No problem... I just dunk the stick blender right into the can of tomatoes and out comes a nice thick puree with all the rich flavor that pre-made sauces seem to lack.

This stick blender came highly recommended by an acquaintance, and it doesn't disappoint. With its high-power motor, variable speed settings and versatile accessories, this is a compact and high-impact kitchen tool. Easy to clean, too. I would urge caution if you've never used one of these before, especially when working with very watery liquids as they can end up getting blown right out of your container if you're not careful.
