Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KHB300OB Hand Blender, Onyx BlackCustomer Review: Great appliance Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best kitchen appliances I have ever bought. It's versatile, compact, quiet, powerful, and easy to clean. I cook a lot and have used the KitchenAid immersion blender to make smoothies, to whip egg whites and cream (using the whisk attachment), to chop fruits and vegetables (using the food processor attachment), and to puree soups. It crushes ice and frozen fruit quickly and quietly. My only substantive complaint so far is that the food processor has a tendency to puree rather than to chop, so you have to use very short pulses and check after each one. You don't end up with a nice uniform dice, but it's good enough for home cooking. Also, the food processor is fairly small, which is fine if you have a 1-2 person household like mine, but may not be sufficient if you're cooking for a large family. Finally, I wish the blender came in stainless steel along with the plastic finishes, but I can't really complain about something that trivial when a machine works this well!
Customer Review: Take it from a pro, this is a great blender set! Summary: 5 Stars
I read the one star reviews about this machine breaking and I can't believe it. I am a chef, classically trained at the CIA in NY, and this blender can handle anything I throw at it. I use it at least once or twice a week and have had it for around seven years now. It has great power, the whisk whips up cake mixes(yes, I cheat sometimes) like a dream, and makes creamy mashed potatoes right in the pot you boiled them in!! That saves a mess! The food processor is great and easy to clean, decent capacity too. The blender works quickly and the variable speed lets you start slow and work up, which is essential with some foods. All around this is a beautiful machine that I wouldn't be without in a home or professional setting. I just can't say enough about it, I'm a believer in the KitchenAid name and this product is certainly no exception. In fact, just using this blender makes me smile, simply a pleasure to blend, whip and process!! :)
Customer Review: Great product. Summary: 5 Stars
My husband was looking at Kitchenaid immersion blenders when I ran across this set. I bought it for him for his birthday but I ended up being the first one to use it. I love the chopper attachment. The first time I used it I chopped broccoli and turkey for a turkey/broccoli braid and then chopped turkey, onion and pickles for turkey salad. It was great. I have a hand chopper that I really liked but this beats it. I usually use my food processor for chopping turkey, onions, etc. but this is smaller and does just as good a job. I've also used the chopper to chop walnuts and it was wonderful. I have only used the whisk attachment once and haven't used the immersion blender attachment yet at all but I'm sure we won't be disappointed. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.
Customer Review: Very good, but one odd control Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this for my wife before Christmas. It's very good at what it does. It feels sturdy in the hand, and the adjustable speed control is great. My only ding against it is that there's no way to keep the power running except to hold in the power switch. The switch is long and designed to comfortably be operated by hands of any size; but instead of clicking on and off when you press it, you have to hold the switch in by clenching your hand to keep it running. When you're taking a minute or more to puree a soup, for instance, that gets very tiring. It seems like an unnecessary design flaw; it could just as easily toggle on/off using the same switch. I hope that will be recognized and changed in the future. Other than that, it's great.
Customer Review: Worth the premium over budget brands. Summary: 5 Stars
I have a tragically small kitchen and space is at a huge premium. I purchased this immersion blender in hopes of avoiding a tabletop blender. That means I need strength, durability and flexibility. The KitchenAid delivers on all points. The variable speed allows for the full spectrum of blending available from a tabletop, with enough strength even to pulverize ice. The chopper and nut attachments extend the usefulness of the unit nicely. It has a pretty good ergonomic design and easy, intuitive interfaces not only for operating but for attaching and detaching the extensions. Cleanup is easy and the KitchenAid folks even included a bag to hold the main parts in one place.
