Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KHB100OB Hand Blender, Onyx BlackCustomer Review: Great start, poor finish? Summary: 4 Stars
I must admit after getting this as a Christmas gift, I have loved using this device. It is powerful, easy to clean, and great for smoothies. have recommended it to at least 5 other people and have probably used it 150 times since last December.
Unfortunately, just today, the attachment (which is metal) got stripped so now the motor turns but not the blade. We are going to seek warranty help from Kitchenaid but this certainly gives me a bit of pause in recommending this to the next person.
Will update to let you know how Kitchenaid product support helps us resolve this issue or whether we are left high and dry.
Aside from this failure, I am otherwise a big fan of these stick blenders and this kitchenaid in particular.
Customer Review: Breaks easily and no replacement parts Summary: 2 Stars
I have had this blender for about 2 years and I only use it occasionally to blend soups or shakes. It worked great for a while. The entire machine is well made and the motor is strong - except for a small plastic piece that sits above the blade. When this plastic thing loosens, then food gets stuck behind it and the blender no longer chops. It is impossible to reinsert it so that it does not come loose again. And there are no replacement parts available, so you just have to buy a whole new blender. I would buy a different blender that did not have a cheap plastic piece in a critical area - which is being immersed into hot and cold liquids. My mistake this time for not thinking about this - but I would not recommend this blender.
Customer Review: Excellent Appliance for the Price Summary: 5 Stars
I did a bit of research prior to purchasing the KHB100 hand blender by KitchenAid. Considering hand blenders in this price range, this model has received excellent reviews on a multitude of sites (Amazon included).
The KHB100 (exactly the same as the 300 model sans all of the attachments) arrived quickly and was packaged rather well.
The adjustable blade speed (fast to super-sonic speed) knob is a nice addition; many models are either on or off. And, unlike some reviewers, I have zero issues with the power button. If you grip the mixer around the body, three fingers rest on the button and it takes little effort to power the machine. The KHB100 is also a few inches longer than similarly priced competitors.
Customer Review: So far, so good. Summary: 4 Stars
I've been using this hand blender for the last couple months...wanted to give it some time and many uses before writing a review. Very fast to chop/puree with all the varying and convenient speeds, and very easy to clean. When using the blending container provided, you'll be much better off with "deeper" blending...a couple inches or more of liquid and ingredients. For more "shallow" blending like herbs and some olive oil, for example, you'll be OK but will need to use a more narrow container for best results.
Wish the cord was a bit longer, and for the price, I wish a couple incidental attachments were provided. But other than that, I really don't have many major complaints. A very solid and dependable product.
Customer Review: It does what immersion blenders should do Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this immersion blender for about two years. I use it two or three times a month, on average. I have no serious complaints about it, and would certainly buy it again. I note that it's the largest immersion blender I've ever used, and if I were much shorter than I am (5'6") I would probably have to use a step-stool for comfort. It is also the heaviest immersion blender I've ever used, but this shouldn't be a surprise given how heavy-duty it is.
It's easy to clean, easy to use, but a little bit awkward to store, partially thanks to the pretty long, heavy-duty power cord. I've given up on trying to fit everything back into the little storage bag it came with, if that's what it's for.
