Customer Review: This thing is a rockstar!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first experience with a hand/stick blender, and I am very very pleased. I bought it based on a recommendation I read in Cook's Illustrated magazine. I've used it in both potato and lentil soups and it brings textures to the party that a potato masher or even traditional blender can't match. I've blended soups in the blender and find it a messy and dirty-dish-creating hassle. The stick portion is very easy to clean and is even top rack dishwasher safe if you are so inclined. Fewer dirty dishes are always a positive thing in my book. The blender itself is relatively lightweight but not flimsy feeling, and the handle makes it very easy to wield comfortably. Last but not least, it is quiet, which is not something I can say for my traditional blender.

The gods must have been smiling upon me when I added this to my cart, as I paid [...] for this blender. If you can get it for that, snap it up without a second thought. Even at full price, it's worth every nickel.

Customer Review: Everything a stick blender should be and more

This is a fabulous immersion blender. I haven't found an application in which it did not shine. I went through 2 packed cups of basil leaves (along with the rest of the ingredients) for pesto in about 10 seconds. Hummus was equally fast, and the result came out light and creamy. I used the accompanying cup for these, and afterward half filled the cup with hot water and dish soap, and cleaned both the cup and the blender blade piece quickly. I also quickly pureed a panful of asparagus stems for a lovely asparagus-goat cheese pasta.

I don't understand complaints about being hard to store since the blade apparatus comes off the motor unit for drawer storage, if desired. It is rather tall, and may be difficult for a short person to use on a standard counter, but I have found the same thing with every immersion blender I have owned. And Amazon's price makes this a completely sweet buy, so much so that I have given it as a gift to several family members and friends.

Customer Review: An excellent immersible blender...

I used to think I would never need something like this, but how wrong I was. I still have a ways to go to try this on the usual assortment of uses (such as soups), but I have used it for mixing drinks and smoothies. I have found it particularly useful in mixing large batches of baby formula - no clumps remain after using it for 30 seconds or so (and just at the 1 setting). Compare that with hand stirring or shaking a large pitcher of formula - always a headache.

The detachable blade cleans well in the dishwasher - no problems there. Attaching the blade to the motor usually goes well, although it occasionally won't mesh right the first time and I have to try to insert it a few more times before it clicks into place. Still, once this goes off baby duty (hand cleaning seems to be a bit tricky around the blade, in particular, so it's usually in the daily dishwasher load or mixing formula), it'll get greater use around its normal kitchen duties.

Customer Review: Rated #1 for a reason...

We received this as a wedding gift--I added it to our registry after seeing that Cook's Illustrated gave it their top rating.

I cook all the time and so I demand a lot of my kitchen appliances. Also, I'm a vegetarian and so I make soup, stews, bean dips, and purees as part of our daily diet. This is the only blending appliance (other than our beloved Cuisinart food processor), that I use all the time and always works. I can't tell you how many blender motors I've blown out making hummus and thick spreads, but this stick blender does the trick. Makes quick work out of soups and actually gives me a reason to make delish pureed soups all the time since it is so easy to use and effective.

The detachable blending arm (which can go into the dishwasher) and the multiple speeds are both key features on this model, and along with the powerful motor speed, put this immersion blender a notch above the rest.

Since this item is made to process food I decided not to buy it after all, despite a great gold box price.
