Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KHB100ER Hand Blender, Empire Red

Customer Review: Too Bulky And Powerful For My Taste
Summary: 3 Stars

My old hand blender that I bought at Wal-Mart (don't know the brand) worked well for me. That is until it died after about ten years of use. I saw all the positive reviews for this KitchenAid model, so this is the one I bought. To me, it is too big and bulky for one thing. Also, it is so powerful that it keeps pulling itself down to the bottom of the bowl/pan when I use it. It works well, but I would rather have a hand blender like my old one. However, if the bulkiness doesn't bother you, and you want a really powerful hand blender, then maybe you'll like this better than I did. It seems like a quality instrument, just not what I prefer.

Customer Review: Good product, good price!
Summary: 5 Stars

This immersion blender is excellent. I read many reviews on different products and took the best features from each review and found this KitchenAid blender that satisfied all the requirements. One reviewer mentioned a metal shaft as opposed to a plastic shaft, another mentioned watts, another mentioned variable speeds. All of these features are found on this model, it is a very solid appliance. I did not need the add ons and saved lots of money that way. I did not want to pay $99 for a bells and whistle blender, just a reliable blender was enough and the price was perfect. Definitely worth it! And the red color was an added bonus for me.

Customer Review: mine broke sith very little use
Summary: 1 Stars

i used mine, maybe 10-times, then it broke. the inner workings (the drive shaft and the gear box--the thing that make the blade turn) are all made out of plastic. the plastic breaks very easily and your blender is worthless.

i had to throw mine out after about 10 uses.

Ironically i thought the KitchenAid mixer would be an upgrade to the 10model i picked up at the cheap store.... i wish i had hung on to that cheap ten dollar version, as it had well over 100 uses with no problems.

i chose the expensive brand name and the sleek look of the KitchenAid Mixer, you however, should not.

Customer Review: Solidly Made
Summary: 5 Stars

I actually purchased this one for my Mother. I have a blue version that's now 5 or so years old and still going strong. It's heavy (some people may not like this. I do.) and has plenty of power. The speed dial on the top works well and the simple push button on/off is well placed. Finally, the clean up is easy (it comes apart in the middle). I have to admit that I have become a bit skeptical of Kitchenaid in the last few years. They now sell bathmats, pot holders and a whole array of other products that are presumably just their name slapped on some noname product. This still seems to be up the the Kitchenaid name.

Customer Review: Love it!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

So glad I bought this, wish I had gotten one sooner!!!!! I make alot of homemade soup and I use this immersion blender to thicken up the soup. it is so much easier to just stick this in the pot, rather than my old way, which was to ladle soup in to the blender and puree it, then place it into a bowl, do another blender or 2 full of soup, then put it all back into the pot. Ugh. What a pain, and the blender was a pain to clean too. This immersion blender saves me so much time and work. To clean it I just stuck it into my soapy water in the sink and turned it on, clean in about 30 seconds. Love, love, love it.
