Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KHB100ER Hand Blender, Empire Red

Customer Review: Another Great KitchenAid Product
Summary: 5 Stars

After doing the research we decided on the KHB100 hand-stick blender and we are very happy with it.

My wife likes the shape and finds it very easy to control. She primarily uses it to puree and make fresh fruit shakes. It has plenty of power for such tasks.

I was surprised that the manual expects you to purchase the whip attachment for whipping egg whites. I used the standard blade to whip egg whites in a shallow bowl and it did not work well. Perhaps if I had used its mixing cup the results would have been better.

Overall, the wife loves it. Easy to use, easy to clean, and the included mixing cup with tight lid is great.

By the way, I purchased a $100 Bamix 15 years ago. It is also a great tool, but did like having to keep track of the blades. Plus, after time, the Bamix blades tend to fall off. You can tighten their sleeves with a pair of pliers, but....

Customer Review: A completely winning stick blender
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the third stick blender I've owned and it's unquestionably the best. I love the fact that the thing just absolutely will not choke. I've used it to make pesto and do the other assorted chopping I'd break out the food processor for when the batches are larger.
But when smaller amounts are called for -- like for dinner tonight, rather than going through a harvest from the garden -- this does the trick nicely.
It's great for making marinara from canned tomatoes (I used to use my Waring blender for this, but it was hard not to over blend things.) But the best I'll save for last: The business end of the thing pops right off and will go in the top rack of the dishwasher. It's a workhorse. Has the power it needs for routine jobs, is priced reasonably and clean up is an absolute breeze. I wish all my purchases worked out this well.

Customer Review: Great addition to my kitchen
Summary: 5 Stars

I really like this blender. I use it frequently to make smoothies and to blend soups for a thicker consistency and have also used it to make pesto. I think the real benefits of this appliance are the facility of cleanup and the ability to stick it right into whatever you're cooking without the need to transfer food to another container as you would with a traditional blender or food processor. The mixing container that accompanies it is also a gem; it makes measuring ingredients easy and is a nice size, especially for making shakes or smoothies. Only minor complaints: it's a bit bulky (note the measurements), and the cord is thick and a bit unwieldy. I cannot compare it to other hand blenders because I have never owned another, but I would highly recommend this product if you want a solid tool that will make your cooking life a little easier.

Customer Review: Great kitchen tool
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased one of these for myself a year ago and loved it so much I bought one for my mother-in-law this Christmas. We both enjoy making soups and this is a must have. Without this you have to transfer the soup in batches to a blender. Not only is it very messy but it can be rather dangerous working with hot liquids like that. With this tool you just blend the soup while it is in the pot. The handle is comfortable to hold and the adjustable speed settings are nice as well. I have found I don't have to go over 6 for anything I make. Cleaning it is easy too as you just disconnect the handle from the mixer and wash the mixer. I have not used it for blending smoothies yet as the blender is easier for making a large batch. Plus I don't expect something like this to be used on ice. Overall I have been very pleased with this product.

Customer Review: Great Tool at a Great Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I was always skeptical about hand blenders after seeing my mom struggle with weak ones growing up. I bought this in college before I bought my food processor, and I was surprised at how great and versatile it was. First off I love the red color (it stands out without being obnoxious). I've used it for tons of things including soups (saves so much time), milk shakes and even things like salsa and hummus.

The motor on this thing is pretty powerful and I rarely go to settings above 3-4. The included mixing cup is pretty handy, but it scratches fairly easy and with its height so much greater than its width sometimes things can get compacted if dry ingredients (but I didn't buy it for the mixing cup). I've had it for a while now, and I don't have any reservations recommending it!
