Customer Review: Great tool with a few niggles
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been using this food processor for two and a half months now, and I'm very impressed. Mind you, its my first food processor so I might not know better, but it seems to tackle anything I can throw at it. On dry stuff like vegetables it will chop more than I can hold in my largest saute pan, so thats enough for me. Nuts chop pretty well, but not that great. Really wet things can be a problem because the fill line at which everything will leak out is about half-way up. Thats deceptive, especially for someone who hasn't used it before.
More than once I've asked someone to mix something with it and they tried to fill it all the way up and we had a waterfall of cake batter, salad dressing (really thin stuff too) or whatever.
Since I don't have a real mixer I've had to use this food processor for that duty too, and the mixing blade does a great job. Although I may still get a mixer, its not important. The egg beater attachment also works superbly. People raved for over a week about the lemon meringue pie I made with it.
Besides the above listed problems with the mini bowl doing a so-so job of chopping nuts (and most anything else short of corn flakes) and the deceptive fill-line issue, I'd have one more problem. It didn't work one night and I couldn't figure out why. It seems the bowl has to be in perfect alignment with the top and the base, which is all well and good. But one day I did everything as normal and it just wouldn't turn on. I had to jam a fork into the safety switch on the bowl to finish dinner. I called KitchenAid and they were helpful. They gave a very specific way to put it together and it seems to work again.
But all in all its become an essential tool in my repertoire. I've been able to tackle recipes that I would have otherwise disregarded and completed tasks in a few minutes that would have taken me an hour of manual chopping.
Oh, BTW, this sucker is HEAVY!

Customer Review: Excellent so far

After doing much research on food processors, it wound up a choice between the Kitchen Aid and the Cuisine Art. I went to the store to see in person which machine I liked better. The Kitchen Aid, it turns out, is far more user friendly than the CuisineArt. A simple click is all that is needed to lock the base and top into position. Whereas I always had to struggle with my old Cuisine Art to lock the mechanisms into place. It is a sturdy machine and as many have said, it is rather quiet, but powerful. This is not an inexpensive machine, but one hopes it will last a very long time.

I used the Kitchen Aid several times for various tasks in the month I have had it and it has been wonderful. I like that it comes with the extra work bowls and attachments and the storage container. It is easy to use and switch blades and bowls during the food prep process. Grating, mincing and slicing are easy to control with the pulse button (better than with the CuisineArt).

I was concerned about reviews that said the mechanism froze to the base and called customer service to ask about this issue. The person with whom I spoke feigned ignorance of the prevalance of the problem and said he had only heard about it happening once and that it most likely occurred when the bowl was over filled. Frankly, I do not believe him. That said, other reviewers have praised the Kitchen Aid customer service in the event of a problem. This problem has NOT happened to me, but I have not made dough in the machine yet, which is when it seems like it happens.

The look of the machine is cool and it does not take up a huge amount of counter space. I do recommend taking a look at the choices in a store in person to see what suits your needs. Then buy on Amazon where I have found, for the most part, prices to be good.

Customer Review: Don't expect it to last more than 1 year
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought a kitchen aid, because I was looking for quality and durability. I loved it...at first...After 1 year and 2 months, my food processor would no longer turn on. My husband called Kitchen Aid...Too bad for me, since the guarantee is only for one year. Manufacturers cause so much waste because of the current greed to make a product that doesn't last. We have landfills full of trash appliances because of the wasteful practices of maufacturers, and is consumers are made to feel it is their fault for using paper grocery bags. Why aren't manufacturers any longer holding to a standard of quality? Because they want more and more of your $$$$? At least paper bags are a renewable resource and go back into the ground. In our grandparents generation an appliance lasted their lifetime, and only the cord needed to be replaced after 50 plus years of marriage...You can still find working toasters of that era at a "reuse" store. I've been married 33 years...My first food processor had a simple turn on switch and was a combination appliance: lasted about 12 years, my next one which I got used had a much more complicated switch: lasted me about 4 years...This one I bought new from Amazon and paid about $250.00 (way more expensive than any other I'd ever bought)had the most complicated off on switch . The engine is perfectly good. The convoluted cheap plastic switch (in which you can no longer put food in while it is running as in previous versions) wore with use to the point it lasted one year and 2 months and now can't turn on. Companies we used to trust have become so greedy, that they no longer make good products. I am very disappointed. What a waste. I no longer have confidence I once had in the Kitchen Aid brand.

Customer Review: High Quality Beauty
Summary: 5 Stars

I, too, was in a quandry about KitchenAid vs Cuisinart. I settled on KitchenAid after evaluating both fairly closely.

I've had the chance to work with the KitchenAid KFPM770BN and can absolutely say that I am impressed. The machine oozes quality. It's solid (read: somewhat heavy), verry quiet when operating, very easy for me to clean and a delight. It is attractive enough that it sits out on the counter - ready for use. Many attachments come with this machine so hold off buying any extras until you have a chance to see what's in the box.

One minor proviso, which you will see in other reviews, is that this machine is not ideal if you make bulk amounts of soup-like dishes (eg soup, wet salsa, thin batters, etc.). There is no problem if you're dealing with a quart or less - more than a quart, though, and leaking may occur through the central opening of the bowl. If soupy preparations in the food processor are what float your boat, take a look at the Cuisinart - it's a competitive machine which may better meet your needs.

Easy to clean, easy to use, plenty of power, verry quiet, full assortment of accessories included overcome the minor proviso for me (as I don't prepare more than a quart of anything liquid in the food processor.) This machine has been well-engineered and should last a long time.

Given the proviso, you won't go wrong choosing this machine.

Customer Review: Best purchase I could have made!

I just received my new food processor, which replaced a similar model that had developed problems. This newest version is well worth the money. The product description doesn't mention the chef's case which is included with this model. The case contains three slicing/shredding discs, an egg whip attachment, a dough blade, a stainless steel multipurpose blade, and a spatula/cleaning tool. The box also contained a citrus press, which I believe is mentioned in the product description. They also fail to accurately describe the nesting work bowls. They can all be placed in the workbowl at the same time (I think for small batches it will contain the mess, leaving less clean up, but I might be wrong about this). I really like the efficiency of the entire unit - the chefs case neatly stores almost all the attachments when not in use. I haven't had the chance to use all of the attachments yet but I definitely will in the days to come. It is a very well-built, sturdy machine. It doesn't walk all over the counter when in use. I can also vouch from personal experience that if a problem does arise, the company stands behind their products and is very fast to issue a replacement, when necessary. Their customer service is also one of the better I've dealt with. In short, this is an excellent product for the money. I'm a die-hard kitchen aid fan, and my new food processor delivers all that it's promised.
