Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KFP750OB 700-Watt 12-Cup Food Processor, Onyx Black

Customer Review: Great food processor with a couple of flaws
Summary: 5 Stars

I picked up this KitchnAid food processor from a recommendation from Americas Test Kitchen. The food processor works great mostly; has a couple things I don't like about it. Firstly there is an awesome ATK recipe for pound cake that is mixed in the food processor. The problem is the batter comes over the middle attachment. So if I were to take the bowl off of the motor housing, the batter would spill everywhere. My husband has to come and tip the entire food processor so I can scrape the batter into the pan. Another issue is if using one of the blade attachments, when done processing, the blade is a struggle to get off. And the blade needs to come off to get the bowl off. Lastly, after owning the food processor for 360 days (usually daily use in winter, and a couple times a week in summer) the handle on the bowl broke. Replacement bowl $45.00.

Would I buy this machine again? Definitely yes.

Customer Review: A Great Food Processor
Summary: 5 Stars

A significant motivation for purchasing the Kitchen Aid KFP750OB food processor was the price. The black body model was discounted significantly.

In Consumer Reports, the Kitchen Aid KFP750OB was the top rated brand/model.

The reviews and best seller ranking on the Amazon site, were an additional confirmation of our interest.

We replaced a 20 year old Braun food processor. Over the life of the Braun unit we replaced the bowl once and the slicing blade stem twice.

The Kitchen Aid KFP750OB has a much more powerful motor than our former machine which performs tasks easily without strain.

And the stem for the slicing blade is substantially more robust than the Braun. The accessories come in a tidy plastic box that holds all the unused components and keep them organized. Cleanup is generally easy, but I don't recommend putting in the dishwasher.

Customer Review: Hold out for a bargain
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this food processor for about a month and I've been having a blast with it. I'm an "advanced beginner" cook, and this machine seems to do all that it claims. I'm also happy that Kitchen Aid included a box to organize the deadly sharp blades -- I don't need those rattling around the junk drawer! The feed tube could be bigger (Kitchen Aid does offer a model with a wider feed tube, but how hard could it be to make them all that way?), and I would love to have a flat cover to use when I'm only using the chopping blade (some Cuisinarts offer this option).

Now, about the price. I logged on to see what price point this model was at and it has JUMPED considerably! I purchased mine in late Sept. 2007 for $129 with a $20 manufacturer's rebate (which arrived very quickly), putting my grand total at $109. Hold out for a good price, people, and watch for one of the frequent rebates.

Customer Review: Performs As Promised
Summary: 5 Stars

Very powerful and impressive machine. Purchased for wife and she is delighted. Heavy components and very versatile, with the smaller processing bowl being very handy. We also appreciate the storage case so all attachments and blades are protected and kept clean. Amazingly quiet (how did they do that?) so you don't wake up the rest of the family as you whip up something special for a weekend breakfast. This has the standard feed shute, not the wide, and it is more than ample for all our needs. The daughter was flabergasted as she watched a bunch of carrots disappear into shreds within a few seconds.

A reversing feature might be nice, just to give the unit more flexibility and to "unstick" any thing that might hang onto the blade, like of chunk of cheese. But overall we are very pleased and would recommend this particular model to any size family.

Customer Review: Great Food Processor
Summary: 5 Stars

Very happy with the purchase of my KFP750OB 700-Watt 12-Cup Food Processor, Onyx Black

I was orginally going to by the extra wide mouth model, but after doing a search on line found a review by Cooks Illustrated. They felt this model was a better buy than the extra wide mouth, which had so many safety features with the feeding tube, loading was limited and difficult. They're recommendation was KFP750OB, 12 cup which I purchased. It was also cheaper than the extra wide mouth.

What I love about the processor is; The motor is very powerful - chops bread crumbs, hard root vegetables to kneading dough as smooth as silk - all without a hitch. I have it on my kitchen counter and use it every day. A great buy.

One caution the blades are razor sharp. DO NOT TOUCH, but clean with hot soapy water right after use or put in diswasher.
