Customer Review: kitchenaid food processor
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought a cuisinart food processor about 20 years ago, and I was often frustrated by trying to get the damn thing together. It was so hard to get the top to latch on so that the machine would run, and then, any liquid would also leak out of the bottom. I thought that was just the way things were. Finally, a critical small piece of plastic broke, so that now, I couldn't get the lid to snap into place at all, so the entire thing was worthless. So when I looked around for a replacement, I was already carrying a little chip on my shoulder about the whole cuisinart experience.
So, in other words, I might be a little prejudiced. But really, it is a whole new world with my new KitchenAid. It snaps together easily so that I don't feel like that little critical plastic doohicky is right on the verge of snapping every time I use it. It absolutely does not leak all over my sink. It is so much quieter too, and I don't have to go to the gym to bench press 1000 lbs in order to be in shape to put it into its spot in the cabinet like I had to do with my Cuisinart. Life, soups and sauces are good. I'm happy with it. I wish the plastic piece on my Cuisinart had broken a long time ago.

Customer Review: Serious usability flaws
Summary: 1 Stars

I got a similar design KFP750 food processor and now regret that.

When the chopping disk was used for the first time, it has play enough to touch the protrusion under the feed tube. So it shaved quite a few plastic shavings off it. My son was unpleasantly surprised when he found what resembled fingernails in his soup!

But the bigger flaw is the disk design and the feed tube position. The disk has the raised edges. They rise up and hold any stock that is on them. My previous Cuisinart processor had disks with the edge down. Now, the feed tube is positioned 1/4" from the disk edge. When the food is chopped (for exampe, cabbage), some shreds get stuck on the top of the disk. Normally, it would not be a problem, because any new stock would push it onto the knife. BUT, because I mentioned that the tube is 1/4" from the edge, the shreds that stick in that 1/4" will stay. And that causes BIG vibration! NEVER had such a problem with Cuisinart.

Because of that? I give it the lowest rating. It looks for me that appearance trumped engineering; nobody gave a thought.

Customer Review: Thank you for the Hummus
Summary: 4 Stars

I really like hummus. It's simple and nutritious. Great for snacking on alone or bringing to a party. The thing I don't like about hummus? Its pretty expensive for a few smashed chickpeas and spices. I had the bright idea that I was going to make my own hummus, so I purchased this beautiful food processor. I'm sure you'll be happy to know this food processor is capable of producing some of the best hummus you've ever eaten. As for its ability to do anything else, I have no idea. The mini-bowl insert is very convenient for producing a small batch. Cleaning the unit is about what you'd expect out of any food processor (See: messy). My only complaint is the ease of storing the multitude of components that come with the processor. It isn't exactly safe or convenient to have extra razor sharp blades or slicing wheels floating around in a common drawer. Perhaps, if the other components had a dedicated box or case, this could be avoided. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase. Now, only 300 more batches of homemade hummus to make before I offset the cost of this purchase...

Customer Review: I love this food processor
Summary: 5 Stars

Let's be honest, when you talk about small kitchen appliances, the best names or at least the most popular is Kitchen aid and Cuisinart. Can can purchase food processors and mixers for far less than the cost of the two leaders, but there is a reason shy you pay more, and you get what you pay for.

Here is some history:

I received a 3 cup electric food chopper a couple years ago. This chopper is barely big enough to make salsa. To chop onions, you have to pick the chopper up and shake it violently to get the onions chopped up.
For bigger jobs, I also have a manual food chopper. You can say I was too cheap to purchase the right tool for the right job.

Now let's go to today. I love this food processor. I have made salsa, carrot cake and the icing recipe that comes with the food processor and now I am baking bread with the processor.

This processor weights a lot, it is easy to use, easy to clean and I went from making salsa in 10 minutes to making salsa in just a few minutes. Kinda makes me wonder why I waited so long.

KitchenAid KFP740CR 9-Cup Food Processor with 4-Cup Mini Bowl, Chrome

This processor looks great sitting on the counter, but what a disappointment! When liquid ingredients or ingredients that will liquify while being processed (eggs and butter come to mind), a mess is inevitable because of two design flaws:

1. The bowl cover is designed to fit over (on the outside) of the bowl so that liquid that splashes up to the top will drip outside the bowl and onto the counter when the cover is removed.

2. The center wall of the bowl encircling the power shaft covers only one-third of the shaft, so liquid oozes over the shallow wall onto the power shaft. When the bowl is lifted off of the base, liquid leaks out onto the power shaft and base and counter.

My previous processor had a cover that fit inside the bowl and a center wall that extended the full lenghth of the power shaft, hence no leakage problems.
