Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KFC3100OB Chef Series 3- Cup Food Chopper, Onyx BlackCustomer Review: LooooVe IT! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I LOVE this chopper! We didn't own one before but will never go without again! It's a little noisey but then, I never had one before so this one might be quieter. I read the reviews here, a complaint really, about stuff coming out the top. We put our hand on the top like you do a blender and it comes out onto your hand. No biggy! Wipe it off! You need to put your hand on the top of it anyway only so the chopper doesn't fly away! IT'S SO PoWeRfuL!
My husband makes his wonderful dip in it all the time now! It cuts carrots, peppers, spinach, onions,ect....We tried alot of stuff and couldn't beleive it! If you want it chopped alittle, just pulse it a couple of times....you want it pulverized to tiny little pieces, hold the button down a couple more seconds for long pulses....NICE product here.
We scoffed at the spatula that comes with it until we tried it. Looked like just a piece of cheap plastic. But it is WONDERFUL to work with! Molded perfectly for the inside of this 'bowl'. It's part of the set and stays with it all the time. Whole item is VERY easy to CLEAN!
Customer Review: I've seriously beaten this thing up over the years Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned this for several years now and have used it pretty regularly since I bought it. I've beaten it up quite a bit and on two occasions abused it so badly that the motor was smoking. But once cooled the motor was fine and it's still kicking and being abused regularly in my kitchen.
When buying an appliance, I concern myself more with the motor, as that's where the durability really is, so this definitely deserves 5 stars.
I've never owned or used another food processor, so have no other to compare it to: I do wish it had more functions and so since it's such a great machine I am going to buy another kitchen aid: a full-sized one with different blades/settings, etc., as this little one is really only meant for one function (I use it for a lot of things though, from chopping onions to making smoothies - seriously! it has outlasted 3 blenders....)
I'm very happy with the purchase, and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a well-made, durable product.
Customer Review: Kitchen Aid Red Chopper Summary: 5 Stars
I love this!! I use it to chop nuts, veggies, fruits, whatever I need chopped, this has stood up to it and shown no mercy! I love the design and it is really easy to clean as well.
It is a little hard to get used to at first how to lock it into place, but after awhile I figured it out without any issues. I like the convenience of the stowaway cord underneath, however I find it a little hard to get it in to all fit, it does work out either way though.
I haven't had any isues with the top lid either, I thought some of the material I am chopping might come through when chopping, because of the open area to add spices or whatnot, but it has been great with no mess!
I don't discredit this appliance by anymeans and love all KitchenAid that I have so far. I highly recommend and you will love it very much!
Customer Review: So close Summary: 3 Stars
I did a lot of review hunting on both this, another Kitchenaid and the Cuisinart models. This one does exactly what I want with the pulse button, and I would have given it 5 stars for it's chopping ability, however I bought it primarily to chop up dried herbs from my garden and the stupid lid has a 2"x.5" slot in it! So dust and debris flies out the top as I'm using it, and I have to put my hand over the slot to prevent this.
I understand the need for it, but it should have come with a second lid in case people don't want to feed things in while it's on. Additionally it should state that somewhere in the description other then "compartment" and I'm very surprised that none of the reviewers complained of this either.
Customer Review: Surprised, pleased and disappointed- limited abilities Summary: 3 Stars
KitchenAid blades are are differnt hights than traditional food processors. As a result it does an excellent job on chopping herbs, by not pureeing them and turning it to mush, which is great. However, these blades make it difficult to process small batches.
For example if you put in 2-4 oz of yogurt and want to start a yogurt or mayo based dressing, not happening, so it's a huge disappointment for a mini food processort NOT to be able to do a mini job. The cup is to wide to get a hold of product in the bowl, the blades just spin around not really mixing anything! Overall if you have a good bit to process, ths is great, if not I have prefered the cuisnart and krups mini food processors, they do fantastic jobs on small amounts.
