Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KCM055 4-Cup Ultra Coffeemaker, Cobalt BlueCustomer Review: Beware the Dribbler! Summary: 4 Stars
I have to admit that I didn't have exceedingly high expecations for this coffeemaker because of the reported dribbling. I decided to give it a try because it's really (at the time) was the best 4-cup unit out there, plus it's "kitchen-aid"--for whatever that's worth. The maker part is very good. Lighted switch, heavy-gauge elec. outlet w/3-prong plug is a definite plus. Especially since the water tends to dribble when pouring into the brew reservoir. Pluses: - Quick brew time (7-10 minutes full pot) - makes "good tasting" coffee - attractive appearance in a variety of colours (if that matters to you) - solid electrical (& other) construction. Definitely not Black & Decker Minuses: - the dribbling. And no, I'm not *that* uncoordinated. - no auto-shutoff - gold (permanent) filter should be standard - basic design of the plastic carafe lid.. especially when it "catches" the pour-stop valve.. ends up making more of a mess because the coffee splashes inside the carafe and runs down the side onto the burner.. Again, I don't think I'm that uncoordinated. ps: I also have replaced (free of charge, kudos to Kitchen-Aid Cust.Srvc.) the carafe and the new one dribbles worse than the old. So I don't think they've fixed the fundamental design. It really is the *only* major issue with this otherwise good-quality coffee maker. Kitchen-Aid: "Hello!? Are you listening?!"
Description of KitchenAid KCM055 4-Cup Ultra Coffeemaker, Cobalt BlueDespite its diminutive size, this KitchenAid coffeemaker brews full-flavored coffee. If your kitchen is tight on space, or you only need to make a few cups of java at a time, this is the ideal coffeemaker for you. Its advanced brewing system's extra-long heating element ensures water reaches the optimum brewing temperature before passing through the ground beans: the result is richer coffee. Its warming plate has an expanded-contact element that distributes heat evenly across the plate's surface, so coffee does not overheat and keeps its flavor longer. And, for those of you who are in a rush in the morning, the automatic pause-and-pour valve allows you to pour your first flavorful cup without waiting for the entire pot to brew. --Marcela Broussard
